From what I understand a team needs to have their original three picks to make an offer sheet, which is why Edmonton traded to get one of their picks BACK after trading it. Don't know who or remember when it happened.

Any other picks that are gained (i.e. trade) do not count towards an offer sheet compensation.

Here we go:

February 18, 2007 - Defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron was traded with a 2008 3rd round draft pick to the New York Islanders for defenceman Denis Grebeshkov.

July 5th, 2007 - Allan Rourke Acquired with 2008 3rd-rd pick for 2008 2nd-rd pick to NY Islanders. This second round pick is not their original pick, and was acquired in a previous trade.
