Truscott decision tomorrow

tomorrow, one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in Canadian history will come to an end.

in 1959, a 14yo boy named Steven Truscott was wrongly convicted of murder and became the youngest person ever to be sentenced to death. commuted to life in prison, and eventually paroled, he has been fighting to clear his name for years.

the Ontario Court of Appeal will hand down its ruling tomorrow - the final ruling in this case. after years of legal battles, including an unprecedented win at the Supreme Court of Canada; an admission of guilt by another man; support from the victim's family; proof of police malfeasance; forensic evidence showing Truscott could not have committed the crime, and; the support of family, friends, legal experts from around the world, and complete strangers - including most of the City of Guelph, tomorrow's decision will be the final say.

let's hope that some good still exists in our judicial system and a 50 year old wrong will be righted. my thoughts are with Truscott, his family and all those who care about justice in this country.
