Large Marge
I'm thinking about switching my plan from Rogers to Fido. First of all, I want to know if the service is good for downtown Toronto. Secondly, they have a referral rewards program in place so if someone wants to refer me, we both get $20 credit.http://www.fido.ca/portal/taf/promo.jsp
Basher
FYI, Fido and Rogers are the actually both Rogers.
Large Marge
So the service is the same, but Fido's way cheaper? Cool.
Basher
I assume they use the same network - Stoned Phillips would probably know.

bokonon
When I sold cell phones a year or so ago Rogers had just bought Fido and the only downside with Fido is if you were in rural areas often. Smaller cities were part of Fido's "extended network" and a lot of pay-per-use fees were involved. I saw one lady's bill with $300 worth of fees on it from one month. I don't know if it's still the same but be careful!
Patchoulia
In order to be on the Rogers network on a Fido phone, it's a $5 extra fee. That's it. Plan vs plan, that might even it out.The reason Fido used to have cheaper monthly fees was related to the variety of handsets offered (limited vs Rogers). Now, though, the options are basically the same.
