Preference to professionals between the ages of 25 and up. Uniterra volunteers are recruited for their professional skills and experience, and the strength of their character. They are motivated to donate their time and expertise to our projects by a desire to contribute to the cause of development while addressing world poverty. The volunteer is characterized by his or her ability to adapt, their flexibility and interpersonal qualities. He or she displays clear professional behaviour and openness to different cultures and lifestyles. Refer to position of interest. DESCRIPTION/ Description des tâches The Uniterra program provides numerous opportunities for Canadian citizens and landed immigrants to volunteer abroad in their field of experience. We work with local partners in 13 countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Uniterra's objective is to support development initiatives that address world poverty. Cooperate with Uniterra and work in partnership with various organizations, both in developing countries and in Canada. Volunteers share their experiences with their community, encourage international solidarity, and help shape policies towards meeting the UN Millennium Development Goals. With Uniterra, you can volunteer for a position of 1 month to two years, depending on the needs of local cooperation initiatives. Recruitment for positions is all-year round. Airfare and a monthly stipend are included for each candidate to accommodate basic living needs: accommodation, vaccinations, visas and health insurance. Volunteer Conditions Volunteer postings last from 1 month to two years. Volunteers are not remunerated for their services, however, a basic living allowance is provided according to the cost of living in the host country. For long-term assignments, Uniterra will increase the allowance according to the number of dependents accompanying the volunteer and recognized as such by the program. In addition to the living allowance, Uniterra covers the volunteers' travel costs to and from the country of posting, and provides the volunteer with an insurance policy. How to Apply/Comment s'inscrire The Uniterra program is a collaboration between CECI and WUSC. These two organizations have specializations in different sectors and countries. To apply for the position that interests you, scroll down to the bottom of the posting. Under the heading "To Apply", click on the link entitled "Fill the Online Application Form". This link will bring you to SYGESCA. SYGESCA is a candidacy management system for CECI and Uniterra. This system enables you to create and update your candidacy profile as well as manage your applications.
