Carleton University Fusion Ensemble

In its inaugural year and directed by Wayne Eagles, the Fusion Ensemble performs a variety of rock and funk influenced improvisation styles: from Bitches Brew-style experimentations to more textural/ECM-like composition; from progressive rock to hip-hop inspired grooves. Compositions by Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Allan Holdsworth, Freddie Hubbard, Jaco Pastorius, Tribal Tech, and UZEB will be performed.

Carleton University Indian Music Ensemble

The Indian Music Performance group started in Sept 2006 with the idea of initiating performing skills of Indian Music amongst the students and members of the communities out side the University under the direction of Dr. Vinay Bhide, Adjunct Research Professor of Indian Classical Music at the Carleton University. This group was a natural extension of the two Indian Classical Music courses offered by the University since 2002 with the overwhelming response from students. The Group comprises of university students from the Carleton University and members of the community.

Carleton University West African Rhythm Ensemble

Directed by Kathy Armstrong, this ensemble is in its first year at Carleton. They study and perform the vibrant music and dance of Ghana, West Africa and sing in the Ga and Ewe languages. The textiles reflect the multiple layers of rhythms, and call and response patterns found in the music. The group has adopted the Ghanaian Adinkra symbol, Denkyem (turtle) which represents adaptability, a useful characteristic for all musicians.
