From the smallest corner of the world to the hippest club nights around, the Balkan beat has spread like wild fire. Electric Gypsyland is a global dance party dedicated to the infectious grooves of Gypsy Funk, Dub & Electronica. The night features the Canadian debut of dunkelbunt, one of Europe's hottest DJs. A gifted piano player and electronica producer, he moves seamlessly between dub reggae, klezmer, jazz, trip hop & breakbeat. Joining in on the eclectic melange is one of Canada's finest global fusion DJs, medicineman, who has been spreading his healing dose to a loyal radio audience on CIUT 89.5 FM for a decade. Plus, the Funkabelly All-Stars will shimmy it all up a notch with their sassy bellydance moves, while Toronto crew Beatmap lay down their bassy, rhythmic vibe.

About The Small world Music Festival

The Small World Music Festival has become the premier celebration of world music in the world's most diverse global crossing for music and art. Running from September 18-30 at a dozen venues all across Toronto, this year's 7th annual edition is the most ambitious yet, featuring 19 concerts and workshops that cover the most eclectic range of sound in the festival's proud history.

Appropriately, GAP Adventures, the world's most cutting-edge adventure travel company based right here in Toronto, is the lead sponsor of the 2008 Small World Music Festival. The Festival is also supported by all three levels of government: the Canada Council for the Arts, Heritage Canada, Ontario Trillium Foundation, and Toronto Arts Council. Other keystone partners and supporters include: QUEX Inc., Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Roy Thomson Hall/Massey Hall, Lula Lounge, CBC Radio, NuFunk.ca, Batuki Music, Worlds of Music Toronto, CIUT 89.5 FM, CHIN Radio, ComPosition Music, Dinamo Design, MGS Marketing, Long & McQuade.

The Small World Music Festival will change the way you think about music, and open your ears to a whole new world of sonic possibilities. Enjoy the shows!
