TimmyB
I luckily got a ticket for this gig, it will be the first time Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr perform on the same stage together since the Concert for George over 8 years ago. And I believe only the third time since the Beatles broke up in 1970.Peace and Love,TimFrom www.pollstar.comSomething To Meditate On Posted on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at 03:15 PM 12 | While a full-fledged reunion of The Beatles is impossible now, a benefit concert for the David Lynch Foundation next month does feature the band’s surviving members.Paul McCartney will headline “Change Begins Within†April 4 at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.Joining Macca are special guests Ringo Starr, Sheryl Crow, Donovan, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, Moby, Paul Horn, Bettye LaVette and Jim James.Celebrities on hand will include Lynch, Russell Simmons, Laura Dern and surprise guests. The evening will raise funds to teach one million at-risk children to meditate, something McCartney learned how to do in 1968 when he and the rest of The Beatles, along with Donovan and Horn, traveled to India to study with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The singer said learning Transcendental Meditation on the trip has served him well over the years.“In moments of madness, it has helped me find moments of serenity,†McCartney explained. Sounds like a good start for a song.Tickets for the benefit go on sale March 9.
