CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The 2nd Annual Nujazz Festival

November 12 to 14 and November 19 to 21

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

www.nujazz.ca

Toronto’s one-stop funk source, NuFunk.ca, is thrilled to invite submissions to perform at our 2nd Annual Nujazz Festival! Created in the spirit of doing our part to pay homage to one of North America’s greatest artforms in a vibrant and contemporary context, the inaugural 2008 edition was a huge success. Four shows over three nights featured the likes of: hiphop/jazz phenomenon Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (Chicago/NYC), the amazing Herbaliser Band live and direct from London, and Ottawa Afro-funk sensations The Souljazz Orchestra. This year, we’re coming back even bigger and better with six dates in some of the city’s most desirable venues.

Last year’s Nujazz Festival received a huge push from the media in Toronto, North America’s fourth-largest market. Three of the four events were sellouts, and catalysts for these amazingly talented bands to continue growing their following in the world’s most musically diverse city.

Led by promoter and musician Jay Cleary, NuFunk has presented close to 500 concerts since its founding in 2005. We’ve presented legends and rising stars such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Soulive, Z-Trip, Herbaliser, Femi Kuti, Afrika Bambaataa, The New Deal, Charlie Hunter, Fort Knox 5, Fertile Ground, Bassnectar, Tortured Soul, Amp Fiddler, Mike Gordon of Phish, and many more. Nufunk.ca is renowned as one of the city’s most passionate and successful scene-builders -- with a comprehensive profile online, on the airwaves, on the streets, on the pages of Toronto print media, and on people’s lips more than ever!

With thanks and praises,

Jay Cleary & NuFunk.ca
