Pressing Vinyl Costs

I was trying to convince the Fat Cats to put their new album out on vinyl (don't get your hopes up) on the weekend so I got a rough estimate done from duplication.ca. Thought it might be of interest for some folks around here. Basically it would cost a band about $2355 for 500 records, with full colour covers:

This is the cost attached to Vinyl pressing:

300$ to get your lacquers cut then its sent to the plating company,

300$ to get your plates manufactured.

Then the test press is 80$

So the total set up is 680$ to get a test press and here the difference of 100% Canadian Vinyl in your ears, Yeah!

Then here is the price per unit:

Quantity 130 grams

100 $2.40

200 $2.07

300 $1.95

400 $1.90

500 $1.75

If you want labels its 200$ per 500 labels one colour

You can get 500 jackets full colour for 600$

I'm pretty sure that at that weight you could get about 2000 pressings from a set of plates

I did a 45 rpm single for House of David Gang and it ended up being about $2.50 per record. I got the laquers and plating for cheaper, but that does sound reasonable... who's the manufacturer in Canada? Vinyl Guru is one of the top companies who run these orders, but they manufacture in California.
