The new debut album from Slim Moore & the Mar-Kays is finally out! Featuring the entire cast of The Souljazz Orchestra, as well as the One Faith Gospel Singers, this album was recorded in the basement of Metropolitan Studios on a vintage eight-track tape machine, and it captures some of the baddest orchestral soul sounds ever to come out of the Great Canadian North. From the cinematic hues of "Cityscape" to the fuzzed-out psychedelia of "Reachin' Higher", from the sweet doo-wop harmonies of "Get Back Home" to the urban blues of Syl Johnson's 1970 classic "Is It Because I'm Black", this baby's off the hook.

Featuring numerous veterans of Toronto’s thriving underground funk scene, The Soul Motivators are an a 8-piece, 3-horn explosion, whose rough, tough & soulful funk with a hiphop flair motivates people straight to the dancefloor. It’s that vintage Daptone vibe with a Toronto style all its own, inspired by current and classic funk innovators like The Budos Band, The New Mastersounds, El Michels Affair, Breakestra, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings.
