The Chameleon Project [Psychedelic Bass Music // Toronto]

As Toronto’s agents and instigators of the local live jam, fusion & electronica scene, The Chameleon Project (CP) have been the city’s host to, and shared the stage with, such acts as Bassnectar, The New Deal, Lotus, Charlie Hunter, EOTO, Keller Williams, Dub Trio, Garage Mahal, Biodiesel and countless others. CP has 2 full length album releases, an EP and a special DJ vinyl remix pressing to it’s credit and has appeared at premier live electronica festivals such as Camp Bisco (Mariaville, NY), Freedom Festival (Toronto, ON), Evolve Festival (Antigonish, NS), and the NuJazz Festival (Toronto, ON).

Armed with a bass-heavy material, daring improvisations and mind-bending tonal colors the Chameleon Project has crafted a unique sound over its 10yr history. Skillfully weaving elements of dub, jazz, disco, and psychedelia into an intoxicating brew, the Project has been regularly astounding audiences by taking listeners to sonic places, yet uncharted in the realms of dance music.

Jamie Kidd [box of Kittens // Toronto]

Hailing from Toronto's fertile electronic landscape, Jamie Kidd is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ with a career encompassing 15 years through diverse musical endeavours. From studying jazz performance and composition until 2001; focusing on improvisation based ensembles including the drum & bass and dub quartet Chameleon Project from 2003-2005; to recording and touring with numerous groups throughout Canada and the United States as a funk and rock bassist, Kidd has never been one to remain static for long.

Since 2006, Jamie has worked as a solo artist and as half of techno duo Metalogic, whose edgy original productions and collaborations with veterans Perc and Dietrich Schoenemann have been released on internationally renowned labels including New York's Hidden Agenda, London's Perc Trax, Glasgow's Sleaze Records, and Toronto's Thoughtless Music and Roots & Wings. This partnership culminated in 2010 with their acclaimed full length album 'Torus' on Germany's Nachtstrom Schallplatten. During these years his music has been supported by a long list of inspirational producers and DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Laurent Garnier, Cari Lekebusch, Extrawelt, Mark Henning, Nick Warren, Tony Rohr and Timo Maas.

In one of North America's exceptionally vibrant underground scenes, Jamie quickly established himself among the city's finest deep techno and house DJs. As one of the founders of Box of Kittens and a highly versatile resident for Platform events in Toronto, he has performed alongside some of the world's utmost respected artists including Jeff Mills, Speedy J, Trentemoller, Carl Cox, Claude Von Stroke, Maceo Plex, Matthew Dear, Radio Slave, Robag Wruhme, Robert Hood, Seth Troxler and countless others.

Ever restless, Jamie continues to develop a new sound of resonant rich arrangements anchored by the friction between live instrumentation and electronics.
