rubberdinghy
How the hell do you keep them fresher than a day?
Asparagus
Wrap them in paper towel and put them in a plastic bag. Periodically change the paper towel when it appears damp. They'll last for as many as two weeks. Works well for most other vegetables as well.
bouche
I think that you want to keep the paper towel slightly damp. That works for us. If it's too wet, they will not keep.I have never tried a dry paper towel.

Ms.Huxtable
This thread title reminded me how much I enjoyed grilled green onions last year. We have to do that again.I never thought grilling green onions and lettuces (raddicio, romaine, endive, etc.) would work, but it really brings out such unique flavours. Give it a go.
