  1. another great Indian place is right near Budgies Burritos on Main St. - called 'Nirvana' @ 8th/Main. Best Indian I've had in Vancouver... Yogi's is really good too, but all vegetarian.

Sebs is excellent brekkie, but if you're looking for a weekend brunch without a crazy lineup try The Main at 27th/Main. They do a version of huevos rancheros that is insanely good and it's never too busy there.

ps: you should come a day early to check out Hot Buttered Rum!

  2. c-towns is such a crusty bitch. Here's some half-assed reviews...

panacea - hate the name, music is a bit too high-brow, but they are very good musicians, I just don't know how exciting they'd be to see live.

rebekah higgs - she's good, kinda a bit like Feist/Emily Haines etc. I'd hit it.

copilots - great stuff, very canadian sounding. Just a bit too country for me to pay the cover...

Sheepdogs - excellent rock n' roll. they sound like the stones meets weezer.

Musty Steers - c'mon get a better name.... although after listening to them, it's a very fitting name. They suck.

National Frost - interesting... very dramatic and soothing... a little boring for me, but I think they're good.

said the whale - good band. they sound like elvis costello meets rufus wainright sort-of. it's original and engaging - I'd go see them live.

Zen Media - wassabi like?? you mean exactly like wassabi. not bad, but unoriginal.

after all these years - I don't like country music.

so be it union - not in the same league as most of these other bands, music needs lots of work but there's potential. However, their live show looks like fun - SILVER PANTS!

  3. d'load daemon tools

create 'virtual drive' (appears like an extra CD drive in ms explorer)

right click the daemon tools icon in sys tray and go to 'mount image'

direct it to the cue file you want to play

go to virtual drive and play the file in your favorite media player

...or just burn the image with nero

    g'luck!

  4. Well, they are extremely different sports. UFC is much closer to wrestling than boxing, that's why I think there's more skill involved. There are many ways a UFC fighter can win, from submission to knock out etc. - sometimes the smaller guy kicks the big guys ass. I find boxing kind of boring to watch, body shot, head shot - what else? ...and yeah, of course they are both barbaric sports - that's why we like to watch them!

  5. Boxing is definately the more barbaric sport. In boxing, when someone gets knocked down, they give them a standing 8 count and then send them back in. That's when people get seriously injured, sometimes permanently.

In UFC fighting, the instant someone gets in trouble, the fight is called immediately, preventing any serious injuries. I also find it way more interesting to watch as it reqires much more skill and strategy.

Plus I have not noticed any similarity between WWE fans and UFC fans - no mullets or Hulkamaniacs where I've been, must be an eastern thing ;)

  6. You should move the files back to where they were and let them seed to at least 90% or so, then move them wherever you want and delete the torrent file from the client. If your other drive has more room, go to your options and redirect the downloading files to a folder on the bigger drive so you don't ever need to move them in the future... g'luck

  7. Victoria is awesome, last time we were there (2 months ago or so), my girl accidentally left her bag in a shady looking pizza joint at 3am... inside the bag was: my digital camera, my video camera, my MD recorder, my phone, her phone, both our wallets and other assorted valuable things. We raced back around 4:30am - the owner was just leaving but he recognized us (from our drivers' licences), re-opened and gave us the bag back which was untouched. I almost cried like a little girl.

larry_llama - definately come on out this Friday!!

  8. Mike Reno sang Rock And Roll (Led Zep) with us (Themasses) one night at the Media Club... He's goes out with my friends sister and comes out to our shows sometimes.

I met Tori Spelling while walking my dog in Vancouver about 5 years ago. My dog went up to her and thrusted her nose into Tori's crotch and had a good sniff. My dog must have thought she was another dogs ass.

If Fareed Haque is considered famous, then I know him too.. He has borrowed some of my guitar stuff a few times. He also joined us at the Bonfire Fest 2 years ago for our whole set. Nice guy, superhuman guitarist.

I met Kim Mitchell a few times when working at a bar in Muskoka when I was younger.

Jane Siberry came into my workplace a few weeks ago, she goes by a different name now so I didn't recognize her at first.

I met Bob Weir at The Bumbershot Festival about 4 years ago, we walked and talked about Canada for a few minutes..

  9. Has anyone seen 'Dead Man' (Johnny Depp movie) The character (a shy accountant) ends up killing a man in a crazy situation and spends the rest of the movie on the run. His essence of being changes from meek accountant to murderer (which is the underlying theme of the movie) so his interior identity goes through a fundamental shift. OJ could easily be this character - he's gone through the whole shift from personable football/movie star to shameless murderer, so this book fits perfectly with his new identity. He's probably saying "what's all the fuss about?"

regardless, he should never have been allowed to financially benfit from their deaths. Claiming the book is hypothetical is obviously ridiculous, but it probably got him through a loophole. Every cent made should go directly to the victims' families.

  10. on the west coast south of Acupulco: Zipolite (clothes optional beach where the party never ends) is fun! It's near Escondito and Puerto Angel too if you want to go surfing. (and Mezunte where the giant turtles go to lay eggs)

You might want to avoid Oaxaca at the moment, even though it is one of the coolest towns I've ever spent time... there's some violent shit going on there at the moment.

Chiapas: San Cristobal De Las Casas, it's near the amazing ruins of Palenque which I highly recommend.

The Yucatan: Tulum is a paradise with amazing ruins on white sandy beaches. The natives feel it is the centre of the universe.

I would avoid the touristy areas like Cancun, Acupulco etc... everything's more expensive and the experience is different (tainted)

Try to learn some Spanish before you go.. it makes a lot of difference.

hope that helps a bit, have fun!

  11. Everyone here should have a listen to MOTHER. They are a new-ish band from Vancouver who are creating a big buzz, deservedly so. 2 female singers (with amazing harmony) with one male voice (the brother of one of the girls). The songs are brilliant, strange, quirky and extremely memorable. ...I heard they were just signed by someone affiliated with Metric... not sure of the details. I am a huge fan. Enjoy.
