  2. If you have the ability you REALLY want to go to the Terra Lightfoot show. Not only is her band and album great, there are some surprise SPECIAL GUESTS opening that you will regret missing out on. Not even kookycanooky knows who is playing.

  3. It was weird to go to Toronto and see half of Port Dover in the front row of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Guess I've lived away from that area for too long, because one of the dudes who I've known for 20+ years (Jason 'Byrd' Misener, who went out with my neighbour Haley when I was in highschool) didn't even recognize me. Oh well...

1st set was stronger than the second.

  4. Why would they need to play with someone else?

I'd be VERY happy if these shows were just them - and didn't sell out. God, if there's one thing I don't miss about Dead shows after 1988 is how insanely cramped they were (except for Europe 90).

  5. I asked my wife to get me a ticket to Buffalo for my birthday next week. If I had more money, it'd be nice to go to Worcester for the two shows before too. That's a nice arena, I've been to a few Worcester Sharks hockey games when down there on business...

  6. I got mine in the mail last night. It's okay but I am underwhelmed by the whole thing.

I had never bothered to get these shows through tape-trading because I was told they lagged and listening to the first CD definitely shows that. The Second CD is a little better, a nice Shakedown with a good jam out of it into drums, but nothing outstanding.

The footage is cool on the DVD, whoever was filming them was drunk however. Looks like it was all shot on 3/4 inch video or something.

The best thing for me is actually the DVD bonus feature "The Vacation Tapes"

  7. That was my first time seeing Dylan since 2003 (Darien Lake with the Dead) and I loved it. I am all about the unexpected with Dylan and I loved the new arrangements of songs.

His band is really great right now and I had no problems with the sound where I was sitting (sec 123, 10 rows up), especially where the guitar was concerned. Dylan's keyboard could have been louder in the mix, but that might have been on purpose.

I was sitting next to Lincoln Alexander and he was digging it. He kept saying "yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah" and at one point said "sing it Bobby D!" while stomping also his cane.

  8. Piggy (Denis) was indeed the man. I got to meet him a number of times between 1987 and 2004.

Jason Newsted still can't play, so their original bassist Blacky (played on every album up until 1991's Angel Rat) is doing the show. One of Piggy's best friends, Daniel Mongrain, has agreed to play guitar too. He's amazing and one of only 3 guitarists Piggy approved to replace him in the band apparently.
