  1. oh well, that didn't last long. They're now back to the regular price Might be worth checking every once and a while.
  2. Seriously cool dude that Bowman guy. See him at a lot of shows over the years too. They guy lives and breathes music. My TA was a good guy when I was on that course too. I'm sure his name will come back to me soon
  3. Interesting putting Joseph in net just for the shootout, but it backfired. Oh well. Hard to believe that was the first time Anaheim has won in Toronto since 1999?
  4. Wow. That was a fun finish. Wilson sure got Antropov and Stajan out of a funk (for a game at least ). Great effort to tie it up with seconds to go. OT was a little shakey. Now it's on to a shootout
  5. Heard most of the interview with Dweezil tonight. Sounds like we're in for a real treat. HOT NEWS! 6. Yea, chances are that the only ones tossed back in for these shows will be for bad credit cards. Doubt there will be many "promo" seats left for the last minute. Good luck for anyone who's going down ticketless. Hopefully they'll decide to put up some huge screens and a PA in the lot
  7. Many times. Usually the best seats in the house too (since they are unused promoter/band/vip tix placed back in the pool). It's a gamble, but can work like a charm
  8. I'll try to remember to listen to Q on the way home tonight. Thanks for the tip. I'm going to have to catch a train after the show so I don't know how much i'll be able to afterparty You grabbing pints anywhere preshow???
  9. Yup, that's the same piece. I listened again last night. It's pretty damn cool if you ask me. I just tried again and this link worked for me: http://www.nkhstudio.com/pages/amen_mp4.html When I was at York U. my best-ever post-secondary course (Ethnomusicology with Rob Bowman) did the same sort of thing following another song and it's transformation through the decades.
  10. [color:purple]dontcha just wanna cuddle up next to her Schwa??
  11. ewwwwwwww All kidding aside, she really is supposed to put on one hell of a show. I'll leave an extra seat for some real fans though and I'll go to another conert
  12. just pretend to be "talking" on/into your camera as you walk in it really is quite stupid. I guess their only argument is the flashes (camera flashes, not shirt-lifting flashes).
  13. I've had this link for ages and just found it again. Interesting and I figured it would be of interest here: http://www.nkhstudio.com/pages/popup_amen.html Can I Get An Amen?, 2004 recording on acetate, turntable, PA system, paper documents dimensions variable total run time 17 minutes, 46 seconds Can I Get An Amen? is an audio installation that unfolds a critical perspective of perhaps the most sampled drum beat in the history of recorded music, the Amen Break. It begins with the pop track Amen Brother by 60's soul band The Winstons, and traces the transformation of their drum solo from its original context as part of a 'B' side vinyl single into its use as a key aural ingredient in contemporary cultural expression. The work attempts to bring into scrutiny the techno-utopian notion that 'information wants to be free'- it questions its effectiveness as a democratizing agent. This as well as other issues are foregrounded through a history of the Amen Break and its peculiar relationship to current copyright law. Listen here: http://www.nkhstudio.com/pages/amen_mp4.html
  14. Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Were you drinking with the woman in the red shirt in this pic? http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Site=BT&Date=20081019&Category=ENTERTAINMENT&ArtNo=810190802&Ref=PH&Params=Itemnr=13
  15. And here's the photo that Powell was talking about. Powerful: This summer, the photographer Platon took pictures of hundreds of men and women who volunteered to serve in the military and were sent to Iraq or Afghanistan. He followed them on their journey through training and deployment, after demobilization and in hospitals, to compile a portrait of the dedication of the armed services today. Sergeant Tim Johannsen, who lost both legs when he drove over an I.E.D. on his second tour of duty in Iraq, made a point of buying an Army T-shirt to wear in his photograph. Of his sacrifice, he said, “It’s just part of the job. You know what you signed up for.†Sergeant Matthis Chiroux, a military reporter who has become a vocal opponent of the Iraq war, says that he and others like him “take our activism as a continuation of our oath of service.†Like many who enlist, Johannsen and Chiroux come from military families. Sergeant John McKay, a marine whose uncle and grandfather were marines, and whose three-year-old son posed in uniform at the wedding of a cousin, also a marine, said, “He’s just waiting till he’s eighteen.†He went on, “I’m scared for him, but if he wants to do it I’ll support him.†http://www.newyorker.com/online/2008/09/29/slideshow_080929_platon?slide=16
  16. This was HUGE news. I encourage anyone to listen to Powell's reasoning and logic for backing Obama. Watch this;

    yayyyyyy God

    Preahing says " he who is without sin, let him/her cast the first stone." A rock comes flying from the back of the crowd and hits him on the forehead. Jesus says rubbing his head "you know mom, sometimes you piss me off!"

  22. double your pleasure double your fun (if your teams win )
  23. Multi-task I remember being at a Canadiens game in The Forum while a Blue Jays World Series game was on. I had a tiny battery powered TV (2" screen ) and was paying attention to both. Surprisingly, a LOT of fans in the seats around us were interested in the baseball score.
