I like the top ten format. It forces you to evaluate and relive and be part of a grander musical discussion. There are about thirty albums I heard this year that I wouldn't kick out of my bed for eating crackers, but the list forces you to pick a side and defend (higher level critical thinking, just what the teacher ordered)

1. Plants and Animals - Park Avenue - This album spoke to me in every season and still is a fav around here today

2. My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges - I don't know if the live rendition pushed this over the top for me but this album is a fun one.

3. Vampire Weekend - The winter release that became my album of the summer

4. The Racounteurs - Consolers of the Lonely - Jack White should stick to this outfit - groovy rock n roll

5. Elliot Brood - Mountain Meadows - This expanded on their already awesome sound - Can't wait for the next step

6. The Black Keys - Attack and Release - Rock and Roll Album o Year for me - Blues, gutsy, trippy

7. David Byrne and Brian Eno - Everything that happens Will Happen Today - This album touched me in a way I wasn't expecting. It became my safety blanket for the back half of the year

8.Mother Mother - O My Heart - This album went from "I don't like the change" to "What great songs" to my top ten

9. Kings of Leon - Only By The Night - This is a headphone treat - I liked it especially in altered states

10. TV on the Radio - My total surprise of the year considering I did not like the last album - the most consistantly interesting album of the year for me

I definitely would describe this as a charming recording. I did not know that Sugar Mountain came from this show. The banter is neat.

Honestly, I was underwhelmed. The whole thing seemed forced, worn and without genuine humor.

That being said, mopping Randy down was pretty funny. My favorite moments were always when Ricky takes action.

I know what a fan you are, 'ersh. Somedays are with you for the rest of your life.

I'm not one for big veune shows anymore, but I can't imagine getting my money's worth more than what I received last night.

Boourns to the ACC for setting up the beer right when you walk in and then telling you you can't go onto the floor.

Thumbs up to Wilco for their usual standard of excellence. Made some converts out of our group. Can't wait to see them in a full set soon.

On this the 16th anniversary of my 19th birthday, I can only hope to be rocking half as hard and as TRUE as you did last night. I was there on Friday. It was an awesome surprise to say the least. Never got around to posting it, but Guigsy was probably very confused by my first text in which I announced Issac Bruce was playing with BSS. Then he thought Bruce Springsteen. And then I gave on communicating in the state I was in.

Kevin Drew was reeeaaally happy at one point, dancing like Molly Reigwald around the stage.

If you don't have faith in Obama, think about the potential cabinet positions this could open up. The best, brightest, hopefully non-Washington intellectuals that a man of his calibre should be able to attrach is encouraging.

Here's how they are doing it;

CNN's holographic election coverage is fancy pantsy, but how did they manage to send 3D 360 degree footage of virtual correspondent Jessica Yellin from Chicago all the way to the station's election center in NY? As Arthur C. Clarke says, Magic. A magic made possible from technology Vizrt and SportVu with the help of forty-four HD cameras and twenty computers. Here are the details.

On the subject's side:

• 35 HD cameras pointed at the subject in a ring

• Different cameras shoot at different angles (like the matrix), to transmit the entire body image

• The cameras are hooked up to the cameras in home base in NY, synchronizing the angles so perspective is right

• The system is set up in trailers outside Obama and McCain HQ

• Not only is it mechanical tracking via camera communication, there's infrared as well

• Correspondents see a 37-inch plasma where the return feed of the combined images are fed back to them. Useful for a misplaced hair or an unseemly boogar

• Twenty "computers" are crunching this data in order to make it usable
