Hey Shwa earplugs are not such a bad idea to help protect your ears and also filter out high pearcing sounds coming from the stage.

Doug the sound-guy likes a soothing sound more then anyone in the room. Sometimes it may be someone in the band that has to crank their amp and don't feel they should turn it down because they are near deaf themselves or just don't realize it's pain on the audience. Those horns can be pretty loud too.

I wear earplugs as much as I can and it's not such an inconvenience compared to hearing the music better that night and in the future.

Zaki Ibrahim's music is captivating and vibrant. It's thick with poetics and steeped in a delicious mixture of earnest emotion and social commentary. Holy Fuck’s well known live show has become a force to be reckoned with. One of their first shows was at Pop Montreal where New York based MC, and ex-Antipop Consortium member, Beans was so impressed with their unique take on 'electronic' music that he invited them to Coachella as his backing band.

Now only a few years later they have become a heavy hitting live act, with a devoted audience consisting of cultish fans and new comers drawn by their reputation. They've toured with Do Make Say Think, , Clinic, Wolf Parade, Cornelius, Metric, Mouse on Mars and most recently this past summer M.I.A.. They’ve also made appearances at world renowned festivals like Vegoose, All Tomorrow's Parties, Montreal Jazz, SXSW, and CMJ.

Their reputation as a must–see live act gained them a slot on this year's John Peel stage at Glastonbury. This performance ended up being hailed as one of the top three performances of Glastonbury by NME.

(Halifax, NS) GYPSOPHILIA Kicks off Summer Tour with Via Rail!

Gypsophilia is heading out on their first ever tour of Ontario and Quebec and they're going by train! The end of August through the Labour Day weekend sees the popular Halifax band playing in clubs, at a Jewish music festival and onboard Via Rail at selected locations.

It all begins on the train, with the group playing for lucky Via travelers, enroute to the first club show at the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield, Quebec, on Saturday, August 23, where the group opens for L'il Andy at 9:00 p.m. This is followed by a show a the Mercury Lounge in the Byward Market, Ottawa on the 24th, the Pepperjack Café in Hamilton on the 26, eBar in Guelph on the 28th and then onto Toronto's Ashkenaz Fetival at Harbourfront Centre on Sunday, August 31. The 5:30 show is followed up by a 9:00 p.m. performance at The Boat in Kensington Market. The Train Tour continues at Toronto's Rancho Relaxo, 300 College Street on Wednesday, September 3, with a final performance at L'escalier, 552 Sainte-Catherine est, in Montreal on Friday, September 5. Gypsophilia is traveling by train for as much of this tour as possible, and will be performing live enroute.

The tour is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, which enables Canadian audiences to discover artists from other regions and provinces.

Gypsophilia was initially inspired by the music of French jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, but soon found its own distinctive sound through unique original compositions and the melding of the band members' varied backgrounds and influences. While "gypsy jazz" remains a major component of the music, Gypsophilia fuses elements of tango, klezmer, funk, classical music, hard bop and post bop. The band's repertoire ranges from energetic swinging dance music to more sophisticated jazz.

Onboard for this performance will be six Gypsophilia members: Adam Fine (Bass), Nick Wilkinson (Guitar), Ross Burns (Guitar), Alec Frith (Guitar), Gina Burgess (Violin) and Matt Myer (trumpet).

In the past year Gypsophilia has focused on promoting its debut album Minor Hope, which was released in May 2007, and was nominated for both a Nova Scotia Music Award and an ECMA for Jazz Recording of the Year. The group gets people up and dancing wherever they play, dubbed "one of the hottest jazz bands in years" by CBC Radio.

That's nothing, wait till he plays on the actual 9/11 at pepper jack's.

I know I won't be bothered enough for have the rest of his performance ruined for me. I think about that kind of junk all the time. Having him bring such issues into a public light and try to get some solidarity going among the audience is more inspiring then depressing to me.

On the other hand it's perfectly understandable to not want to be bummed at a show, but Watermelon Slim speaks his mind and that's just the kind of guy he is. No bullshit. Straight talkin.I'm bloody well proud to have such a person speak up at a show.

By the way, it is "the blues" that is his genre.
