  1. Unfortunately those tour dates for for CSN USA TOUR 2K4, not for a CN tour (not the train company, but Crosby-Nash). I'm waiting patiently for dates for a CN tour as I will travel at least five hundred kilometres to see it (Maybe by train).

The commercials for their joint presidency are hilarious. It would have been so funny to see them on TV.

    U2 Battles 'Vertigo,' Covers Kraftwerk

As expected, U2 will commercially release its new single, "Vertigo," Nov. 8 internationally via Interscope. The disc will be available in two CD formats as well as a DVD, alternately featuring the new track "Are You Gonna Wait Forever?," a cover of Kraftwerk's "Neon Lights" and a Jacknife Lee remix of "Vertigo."

In addition, the DVD sports a live performance of "Vertigo" taped at the band's Hanover Quay Studio in Dublin, plus a gallery of photos recently shot in Lisbon, Portugal, by Anton Corbijn.

"Vertigo" is due to hit worldwide radio outlets at the end of the month. The as-yet-untitled album from which it is drawn arrives Nov. 22 internationally and a day later in North America.

Last week, the group confirmed six of the 11 tracks that will appear on the album, including "A Man and a Woman," "Crumbs From Your Table," "Yahweh," "City of Blinding Lights" and "Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own."

    Waters Posts Anti-War Tracks Online

Veteran rock artist Roger Waters is releasing a pair of new songs today (Sept. 7) via online download outlets. According to the former Pink Floyd leader, work on "To Kill the Child" and "Leaving Beirut" began "immediately after the invasion of Iraq.

"It seems apposite to throw them out there on the Net, before the [u.S. presidential] election," the Cambridge, England-born artist says. "Historically, there have always been people within the artistic community who have spoken out about things they believe in and they should continue to do so. I shall certainly continue to do so, whether it has any effect or not, because I feel I have a responsibility to myself to do that."

After naming a litany of corporations in one verse of "To Kill the Child," Waters sings, "Our standard of living, could this be a reason / That we would choose to kill the child." In the next verse, a list of religious texts and foods is followed by the refrain, "Is it dogma, doughnuts, ridicule faith / Fear of the dark, or shame or disgrace / That we would choose to kill the child."

In the whispered verses of "Leaving Beirut," the song's narrator recounts the generosity of a desert stranger and his family. In the soaring choruses, Waters berates President Bush for spearheading a war, singing, "Oh George! Oh George! That Texas education must have f***ed you up when you were very small."

Later in the song, U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair is the target: "Not in my name, Tony, you great war leader you / Terror is still terror, whosoever gets to frame the rules."

Waters co-produced the new cuts with longtime compatriot Nick Griffiths, who also engineered the tracks. Joining him in the studio were guitarist Andy Fairweather-Low, drummer Graham Broad and vocalists Katie Kissoon, PP Arnold and Carol Kenyon. In addition to vocals, Waters contributes guitar, bass and keyboards to the songs.

"To Kill The Child" and "Leaving Beirut" have been available for streaming on Waters' official Web site, since Friday. Beginning today, they are on sale at through iTunes, SonyConnect, Napster, Walmart.com and other digital stores.

It has been more than a decade since Waters' last solo album of original material, 1992's Columbia set "Amused To Death." In 2002, he contributed a demo of "Flickering Flame" and a cover of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" to the internationally released compilation of his post-Floyd career, "Flickering Flame: The Solo Years, Vol. 1."

  4. I don't mind ignorance as long as it's honest ignorance.

Ignorance is ignorance period. There is no honest or dishonest ignorance. If you are aware of something and you don't give that information correctly you're just a liar. This girl reviewing the Van Morrison show was just ignorant of the facts. All I have to say is get your facts straight that's what they pay you for.

  5. Here's what I have to say to Llisa Ladouceur, get your facts straight. The song "Days Like This" is from the album of the same name in 1995, not 2002.

The one thing I do agree with her is you should attempt to find out what your are seeing when you go to a show by purchasing or at least listening to the latest album by the artist you are about to attend.

Too often I have found that people that attend Van Morrison concerts just want the good ol' songs and don't realize that he has released nearly an album every year since he's been around, sometimes even two.

If you had all or most of the albums of the last ten years from Morrison and you enjoy them then you most likely would have found the show at the Molson Amphitheatre to be great. I know I did.

  7. Yes was fantastic as always. They performed one long set intead of two and the cut a couple of songs to make room for Dream Theater opening.

The songs Yes cut were "Mind Drive" which I missed, "Turn Of The Century," "Footprints," "The Meating," "Time Is Time," "Show Me," "Rhythm Of Love," "Ritual," "Every Little Thing" (Beatles cover) and "Soon."

The songs they added for the tour with Dream Theater were "Close To The Edge," "Owner Of A Lonely Heart," "Awaken" and "Starship Trooper."

  8. The interview I did was with Rob Marscher the keyboardist of AGP not their guitarist Brendan McGinn.

Brendan was driving the van while the call was made. Brendan was the one that told Rob to tell me that they were listening to Journey in the van somewhere in Kentucky.

Though, that's a nice picture of Trey with AGP at the Higher Ground finale earlier this year.

  9. I just saw Dream Theater open for Yes in London this past Monday (August 30). It was my third time seeing them and it was the best as well.

I think they are all unbelievably talented musicians, but they don't have too many great songs. I felt that them performing as an opener for a progressive rock band of the stature of Yes, was a great outlet for them. I remember a lot of Yes fans saying how much they enjoyed Dream Theater and how they had never heard of them before that night. I tend to enjoy their progressive side more than their heavy metal side and I got more of the former on Monday night.

Dream Theater performed an the intrumental part of a obscure Yes song off their one album without Jon Anderson. The song was called "Machine Messiah." It was great seeing them pay homage to the headliner.

  10. Happy Birthday Van "The Man", "The Irish Poet" Morrison,

I'd pay to see you sing names out of the phone book.

For those that want to wish Van Morrison a belated Happy Birthday you should go to see him this Friday in Toronto!

First Batch Of Dylan Memoirs Due In October

The first in a series of Bob Dylan's memoirs will be captured in "Chronicles: Volume One," hitting shelves Oct. 12 via Simon & Schuster. The volume is comprised of "first-person narratives focusing on significant periods in Dylan's life and career," according to the publisher.

Simon & Schuster executive VP/publisher David Rosenthal describes "Chronicles: Volume One" as "extraordinary, revealing and surprising. It is a beautifully written, singular achievement."

The 304-page book will carry a suggested retail price of $24 and feature a rare portrait on its back cover of Dylan from his early days in New York. A hardcover edition is expected in January.

Also arriving in October is Dylan's "Lyrics: 1962-2001," an updated version of a compendium first published in 1973 and revised in 1985.

Beyond the books, the 63-year-old music legend will be the subject of the tentatively titled Todd Haynes film "I'm Not There: Suppositions on a Film Concerning Dylan," due sometime next year, as well as a Martin Scorsese-helmed documentary, provisionally titled "Bob Dylan Anthology Project."

Dylan is in the midst of a minor-league baseball stadium tour with Willie Nelson that touches base tonight (Aug. 25) on Peoria, Ill.

  14. Hey MarcO, The Subject of this post of yours made me think of this song.

    Billy Joel

    Captain Jack

    Piano Man Released: 1973

Saturday night and you're still hangin' around

You're tired of livin' in your one horse town

You'd like to find a little hole in the ground for a while

So you go to the village in your tie-dye jeans

And you stare at the junkies and the closet queens

It's like some pornographic magazine, and you smile

But Captain Jack will get you high tonight

And take you to your special island

Captain Jack will get you by tonight

Just a little push 'n' you'll be smilin'

    Oh yeah, yeah

Your sister's gone out, she's on a date

And you just sit at home and masturbate

Your phone is gonna ring soon,

But you just can't wait, for that call

So you stand on the corner in your new English clothes

And you look so polished from your hair down to your toes

But still your fingers gonna pick your nose, after all

But Captain Jack will get you high tonight

And take you to your special island

Captain Jack will get you by tonight

Just a little push 'n' you'll be smilin'

    Oh yeah, yeah

So you decide to take a holiday

You got your tape deck and your brand new Chevrolet

Ah, but there's no place to go anyway and what for

You've got everything, but nothin's cool

They just found your father in the swimming pool

And you guess you won't be going back to school anymore

But Captain Jack will get you high tonight

And take you to your special island

Captain Jack will get you by tonight

Just a little push 'n' you'll be smilin'

    La da, da

    Oh yeah, yeah

So you play your albums and you smoke your pot

And you meet your girlfriend in the parking lot

Oh, but still you're aching for the things you haven't got,

    What went wrong

And if you can't understand why your world is so dead

And why you've got to keep in style and feed your head

Well, you're twenty one and still you mother makes your bed

    And that's too long

But Captain Jack will get you high tonight

And take you to your special island

Captain Jack will get you by tonight

Just a little push 'n' you'll be smilin'

Yeah, Captain Jack will get you by tonight

Yeah, Captain Jack will get you by tonight

    DMB Sued for Dumping

Band in trouble for allegedly dropping waste into Chicago River

The state of Illinois sued the Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday for allegedly dumping up to 800 pounds of human waste from its tour bus into the Chicago River and hitting a passing boat filled with tourists. The suit cites the band and its driver for violating water pollution and public nuisance laws, and seeks $70,000 in damages.

The state alleges that on August 8th en route to the band's downtown hotel, the driver emptied the bus' septic tank while crossing the Kinzie Street Bridge. More than 100 passengers on an architecture tour boat were doused with human waste, though the attorney general's office said no one was seriously injured.

"This incident may be unique," said Attorney General Lisa Madigan, "but that does not lessen the environmental or public health risks posed by the release of at least 800 pounds of liquid human waste into a busy waterway and onto a crowded tour boat."

A statement from the band rebuffs the suit's accusations. "Our driver has stated that he was not involved in this incident," it reads. However, DMB go on to pledge to "continue to be cooperative in this investigation."

1947 - Keith Moon of the Who is born in Wembley, England. He dies on Sept. 7, 1978 at age 32, from an overdose of the sedative Heminevrin.

I never saw Keith Moon, obviously since I was born in 1974, but he's in the top ten of people I wish I could have witnessed on stage. I hope he's resting in peace.

On a side note I saw Rush last night perform The Who's "The Seeker" and a version of "Summertime Blues" that was obviously influenced by the Who.
