  1. Well, it was a great night for jamming! A good crowd of people too which is sometimes hit or miss at the Beach.

I want to thank Chris Mulligan, Tonin, Tooly and Jay Sanislo for coming out.

We started off with a bit of acoustic, moved into Jay and Tooly's bluegrass blends (Jay you were awesome on banjo! Nice work both of you!) And Tooly's choice of tunes were a big hit with the crowd.

Then Tonin and Chris warmed things up a bit more with the electrics..while fending off a stream eager but totally mashed drummers and patrons. Finally Jay got behind the kit and locked it all together for everyone...awesome really! Even the owner was dancing which happens but not too often.

Chris was able to get a few requests squeaked out while others were out for a smoke. Then Jay was back on the kit in full fury.

Tooly "played us out" with some Band tunes and we all sang along while we rolled up the cords and stowed the gear.

Thanks again guys. You really made the night for me and everyone else in the room.

Lets do it again next time you're in the Bruce County area!

  2. this is news to me and thanks for the reference! I have always enjoyed his kid stuff too. For a few years running I would go into my kids' classes and read from his books. the kids thought it was great!

Hope I haven't 'directly' turned them on to any experimental behaviors! ;)

  3. I belive in one thing and one thing only - the Magic 8 ball at Mousepad's place. It talks and I listen.

    without a doubt

and by comparison if there were a god it would be cool if it were Neil Young...then Van Morrison could be the messiah...rushing in to soothe us all with those 'humanah huminnnahs'..

  4. i actually got my name camping at sauble beach may 2-4 back in highschool or thereabouts... i was a bit drunk and slurry' date=' and my friends were having a hard time understanding me. so, they called me questcequecest. my roommate at the time also ended up as "quelques-choses". people seem to think there's a relation to the song psycho killer, but no. there's not. i'm just a mess. ;)[/quote']

    Hideaway?

The Hideaway Campground...that is the name of one Native campground in the area which is sadly no more...there was an incident involving booze, drugs, underage party goers, overactive and angry natives, a weapon and one gunshot which was fatal for the young, over enthusiastic raver. Very sad events that led to the place being shut down.

I have heard a rumour in the area that it will be reopened as a mini-put.

  5. mark tonin gave the harvard mouse guys the opportunity to play in public' date=' and turned us on to this place. the mouse theme seemed to work perfectly, and so there are several of us with mousy monikers.[/quote']

    :)

    :):)

  6. to my knowledge, Walter Bean is the longest trail and unpaved. Go ahead and markup RIM trail all you want, it's fully ugly anyway and nowhere near "nature" as its in a preplanned sports "park" but leave Walter Bean alone, it runs along the river and has great scenery and tons of wildlife.

    :(

Maybe you could stand at the side of the parking lot at RIM and just offer 'rimming' and if you get any refusals then suggest they 'take the poll' ;)

  7. geomouse, I agree. It just seems like most are ready to write this off as a terrible idea before considering the alternatives, or even the need for alternatives.

Personally it would not bother me to see it on a paved nature trail. I suppose its a matter of significance of the space to those using it. But some would mind, a lot. I'm pretty interested to see how it rolls out.

  8. Seems like there is a need for more funding for the nature trails. It's gotta come from somewhere' date=' no?[/quote']

But is this the best solution, really? Seems other towns somehow manage their budgets so as to not have to resort to this.

No doubt. At least leave the advertising game in the hands of private enterprise. Gov. should definitely regulate it and not allow it in those public spaces that have a significance to a majority of voters.

    Take the poll ;)

  9. erection.intelligence.monument

My brain came to a halt at that for awhile.

Toronto is mulling over the notion of selling advertising rights to its parks, subway and streetcar stops

    What does this exactly mean?

On that tangent...I was in a workshop this weekend with an artist intending on doing a series of paintings (not just pretty little landscapes...good stuff)related to land areas in Ontario and having the "gallery" be the billboards, plasma screens etc on streetcars and at subway stops/stations.

Why is it that the Egg board is the first pilot advertiser do you think?

it's gotta be an effort to appease with some kind of healthy food choice but really comes off as very targetted marketing.
