Once again, I'm disappointed in Toronto from an audience perspective; really tame and unenthusiastic.
I have to completely disagree with this. I have never seen a Toronto crowd more into a show than the Saturday night show. Maybe only up in the front half of the sunken area, but it was violent in there, I think I have bruises from all the failed attempts at bodysurfing around me.
I had an awesome time, I love how much fun the band is always having on stage. I think I liked Sunday better, better crowd and a few songs I was hoping to hear after not hearing them Saturday (Joke about Jamaica, One for the Cutters).

The dudes playing drums were roadies, not fans. Tweedy has an interesting sense of humour. He also said Glenn fell down a well . And one of them got to play heavy metal drummer, I nearly wet myself! I was there both nights and I think Wilco was better last night. Ummm from memory they played (probably in the totally wrong order)
Hesistating Beauty
War on war
Jesus etc
Passenger Side
Hummingbird
California Stars
Handshake Drugs
Impossible Germany
I got you
Outtamind
Heavy metal Drummer
I Shall be Released
thomson, you were probably just in front of the guys in front of me. They stood totally still the whole time.

I wanna be a fibre farmer!
I want a farm full of sheep and alpacas and angora bunnies, so I can spin all their fur and fleece into yarn, then knit it into nice warm sweaters and socks and mittens.

Rock 'n' Tees on King St in Hamilton probably has them.

If you go to Express, chances are they will send you to work at Protocol, the call centre where everyone seems to hate their job. But if you go directly to Protocol, maybe they'll hire you directly, so you can avoid the placement agency.

I think the best biography I ever read was Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
I read it when I was 11, I think. My mom read it first, then gave it to me. There's some stuff about sexual abuse (from the victims point of view), but there's no glorifying sex and drugs.
I don't know that a 13 year old boy would really want to read it, though. I have a feeling at that age a girl would appreciate it more.
Kevin Smith has a new biography out, I've only flipped through it, but its basically a day to day account of his life over the past few years. Seems like it might appeal to a 13 year old boy.

I took the Handmade Pledge this year. Lots of knitting, and a little shopping on Etsy.
You can never have too many handknitted scarves! And even if you do, you still have to appreciate the time and effort put into creating the gift.

we should take all the garbage on the planet and compress as small as possible, load it onto the space shuttle and send it hurtling off into oblivion.
it'd make more sense than experiments to see how ants behave in zero gravity. although i suppose the experiment could be lablled "How garbage, rats and other gross shit is affected by zero gravity".
You mean like this?
It'll just come crashing back in the year 3000....

I dunno, I'm kinda happy for Franz. I'm sure the Hold Steady will be fine without him.
Besides, now that he's announced this, they can start announcing some tour dates. April 14th in Pittsburgh has been announced sort of, so there's bound to be a tour...
