  1. hey dudes, thanks for all the help! i haven't had much time on the computer lately so i'm slowly going through your suggestions.. so far i downloaded AdAware and ran in a few times... I got rid of about 300 "objects"! Next up is SpyBot, then I'll to that Registry thing you were talkin about \/\/illy.

I'm skeptical about messin with my IP Doug.. I'll see if the other stuff works first.

I'm on DSL, if that tells you guys anything. Also I'm on what they call a "proxy". Oh and our internet cable also goes through a splitter-upper so that 3 of us can use the net at once. Also I frequently get unplugged cuz there are actually 4 computers needing internet and only 3 connections available so whoever isn't home gets unplugged.

  2. so my computer has been acting up for the last, ohh, 6 months.. its just the internet side of things. i can't do things like:

    - attach a file to an email in hotmail

    - upload an image from my computer to use as a custom avatar

it usually just times out, or i get a dns error message.. it just can't handle it! actually i get 'time out's quite often.. i've checked to see if i need to defragment and it says i don't. my virus checker program says i'm ok, though i've quarantined many small pesky email viruses over the year. does anyone have any words of wisdom for me please?

  3. Me, the Freak, QQC, Ian & Steve (friends of mine) were the only ones in the theatre!!! It was pretty funny. We sat front row centre.

The film was well done! Leaps beyond Journey Through The Past (?) for sure, hehe. A little strange though cuz after hearing the album so many times you develop a picture in your head of exactly how Grandpa looks and moves when he crabs about things like "when i was young people wore what they had on!" - and in the movie he wasn't the same. (that goes for all main characters more or less, but especially Grandpa). I always thought he'd be sorta yelling those lines, old man fist pumping in the air, ya know?

  4. more specifically:

So when KVHW disbanded, what was your original goal with SKB?

SK: There were no specific artistic ideas about how we were going to do anything. It was more like I was asking is there a way that we can do this and keep working and not have it snatched out from under us by whatever or whomever. I’ve been playing everyday since I was a teenager, and I’m 46 years old. And here I am still trying to have a band where I really try to take care of everybody, so that everybody gets paid equally and everybody has creative input, you know? And then to do really well and then some guys would just simply not show up…

So the whole idea of doing the whole SKB thing was just some intent to continue the work, you know? And from the outside, from the audience perspective and people who read about it, only see it from a distance. I don’t think people understand just how close to the grind from month to month this shit is. This shit is really hard, it’s fucking hard, hard work. Everybody’s up your butt and down your butt constantly, and giant crazy personality and ego insanity kind of issues, and personal self interests and what the music is going to be, and its just hard to keep it going. And I’ve got responsibilities that I’ve got to take care of and a lot of people who I make sure get some money. So I’ve got to keep working and what I was doing before was I was just giving my money away to people who just kept fucking me you know? So why SKB? Just to continue the work.

  5. nice qqc! i'm calling it quits with my homework too.. time for more pints on the porch!

hey i'd like to suggest meeting at caroline's at 8pm instead, seeing as she lives 1 minute from the cinema. sound good? little ian is in, and possibly steve, and possibly my other roomie chris. i think thats it.

  6. i was downtown reading at dreams & beans by 11am! i got up pretty early and i'm getting some readings done for my reading course credit. i just had a night kitchen slice and then went for a beauty bike ride in jackson park --- that place is amazing!! ::

now back to the porch for more reading and a refreshing pint.

can't wait to see greendale tonight. i hope everyone can make it!

  7. If we're talking about keeping it strictly Canadian talent, I would suggest diversifying - going beyond the bands that are so regularly pigeon-holed as "jam bands" to include those bands that we know fit into the mould but have been able to shake the word. Err, maybe that doesn't describe all the bands I'm thinking of, but I would suggest bringing in some of this kind of stuff:

    Crazy STrings

    Creaking Tree String Quartet

    Ken Whiteley

    Whiteley Brothers reunion??

    Luther Wright & The Wrongs

    Kevin Breit & Sisters Euclid

    The Unintended

    The Sadies

    Cuff The Duke

    Broken Social Scene?

    Manitoba

DJ _______ (TO guy who won the most recent World DMC Championship)

    Pocket Dwellers

    DJ Fase

    WE NEED MOSES MAYES

Neil YOung would seal the deal.
