  1. Every minute of the freakin' day gives me that feeling!

Getting out of bed in the morning makes me want to cry...

BUT - let that feeling be your motivator to make changes in your life. I'm working on it and it feels great. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel and am a step closer, everyday, to being successfully self-employed.

    Keep your chins up!

  2. tried it once, but we had the weakest strain. I didn't feel much outside of a little feeling hot...I got some sweats happening and that was it.

BUT, the guys I did it with had a different reaction. (I must have a tolerance for this kind of thing).

One friend felt like he was being forced lower and lower to the ground, as if it was a necessity. He started crawling around on the floor and described it as if the "available space" was diminishing around him...that he had to go through pathways of clear space. It was interesting to watch.

The other friend had a similar experience, feeling drawn to the walls, and floor of the place.

Both of them laughed a lot at first, then it got serious. It didn't last long, maybe 3-5minutes, but seemed quite intense for both of them.

Maybe one day I'll try a stronger strain and see if I can get a first-hand impression...

  3. What city are you in?

Maybe I or others can refer you directly...

Great idea about contact recording arts schools - In Toronto, try Harris Institute, Trebas...

In London, you could check out Fanshawe College MIA Program...

I'm sure there are many more!

  4. Sights: a 40yr old lesbian birthday party, beautiful people enjoying beautiful weather, a big Italian wedding, frisbee in the park, lots of stinky dogs.

Sounds: The Mae Cromwell band at the b-day party, drunken drummer dropping sticks, my piano students struggling through Beethoven, euro-trash house music at the wedding, taratellas, glass-clanging, an alarm clock that sounds like a big Italian wedding, beautiful people enjoying beautiful weather, then the capper...Zap Mama @ the Mod Club Theatre.

A great weekend of sights and sounds...

I won't even start on the taste and the touch can stay private ;)

  5. Hey Esau,

Yeah, you would have caught us probably...we did several shows with the Cats back in the day. I noticed you had Fly Fantastic on your list...this was the band that was formed by three of the Kickstand guys after that band split.

I don't need to trade but would love to get you some tapes...you're a saint for offering to do the transfer!!!!!

Let me know how I can get them to ya and I'd be happy to send 'em off!

  6. I found my box of old tapes from my tradin' days...includes a lot of Phish & Dead...but I came across some shows from my old band Kickstand Travolta. We split up back in '96 if I remember correctly...

I had a listen and damn! It was pretty good! Anyone wants these, let me know.

Any of you heads remember those days? 'Twas quite a scene back then. This was around the time that moe. was breaking, Fat Cats were relatively new, and the web...well, hey, it took me all night to get pictures of Trey.

I'm remembering...(said in the voice of the Chicken Lady - KITH)

  7. I'd rather see the writers of the songs play them in person than see someone who sorta sounds like them do it. Besides, how many freakin' Hip cover bands do we need? Shania Twin? Please.

As a musician, I find this both good and bad. It's always nice to pull out a cover and appease an audience, but now the pressure's on us to perform more original music. If audiences don't have as many cover bands to see, then maybe they'll try out some original bands.

I've always wondered why this was limited to cover-recordings and not live performances.

Will this ruling affect the cocktail bar pianist doing jazz standards? What about karaoke? Hmmm. Gonna be a tough battle and very difficult to police this...

  8. I've got the radio thingy back up and running and as a test, I am broadcasting some live Void. Some recent stuff from the Miller Tavern (feb 17/05) and some older stuff from Temptation/Harmony Lounge (Jul 2/03).

    Tune in here!

Let me know how it sounds! This is a precurser to what should be a regular weekly show from Dynamo's Den! Ideas, comments, suggestions are always appreciated!

  9. G'day!

The Void will perform 3 sets tonight at The Miller Tavern , beginning at about 8pm and ending around 11pm. It's early, it's free and it's cozy. We'll find out tonight if there will be more dates at The Miller throughout April, but this could be the last chance to catch The Void before the gig with Vanderpark on April 28th...

    Ben
