As far as I know, this is the only way. You might want to look into better audio software so that you can tweak what you transfer...
Outside of that, I couldn't suggest anything else...

I fought hard with Rogers after getting the customer service runaround...
I won.
They sent me a free phone and some accessories after I repeatedly wouldn't accept their "makin' it up to you" offers that just didn't cut it.

Who's on when?
I'm playin' down the street and might come check this out before/after my set...

I know I can, from time to time, SEE the music, but to taste it would be scary!
For instance:
B. Spears = Cheese
Phish = Jambalya
G.Love & The Special Sauce = ...

As long as nobody becomes, or calls anyone a "whiney bastard" we'll all be happy, haha!

A priceless album: Zap Mama - Adventures in Afropea.
This is primarilly an a cappella recording of 5 of the most gorgeous female voices...
Amazing.

I could describe the sound as a cross between Boards of Canada, Tortoise, MMW... but best leave it up to you. Check the link above for downloads.
Yeah, the Guinness thingy is great! Guinness is sponsoring the "happy hour" and apparently they're flying in some professional oyster shucker (did I spell that right?) who'll do 1000 oysters in 2hrs ::
You can contact The Miller Tavern for deets on that stuff.
Peace,

There are more Tim Hortons per capita in Canada than there are Dunkin Donuts, Crispy Creme, Starbucks and McDonalds combined in the US.
And I still have to wait in line behind 20 peeps every morning, regardless of which corner I go to!

Keep it up Jay!

The incest between Void & Join is quite interesting/funny/cool/neat!

FYI...
Brad Park, Drummer for The Void is scheduled to play drums for The Join as well...
If he can do both, so can you!

Saw Slowcoaster in Halifax on the 12th and enjoyed the show very much. They were a hell of a lot of fun!
If you're into musical exploration from a "jamband", then this doesn't quite do it, but they certainly know how to lay it down and keep your head bobbing the whole time. This is better drinkin' music than smokin' music.

These guys are great! I highly recommend checking it out!

Happy Belated Margaret!

Wish I could make it!
Is the after party gonna be GTB @ The Riv?

Yonge St. exit will do it. And I'm pretty sure that's where the big lots all are...
SOCAN Fees - ATTN Musicians!
in Soundboard
Posted
G'day all,
I had an interesting experience on Friday night after performing at the Rivoli in Toronto.
Following the show, the bartender asked me if I was registered with SOCAN. I let him know that indeed I was, however, I was unsure about the other performers. Then he told me that the bar is asking the bands to pay the SOCAN licensing fees, to which I responded flatly, "no!".
SOCAN charges establishments a fee in order to distribute royalties to artists. This fee is dependent on the seating capacities, the turnout, and many other variables and is THE VENUE'S RESPONSIBILITY. After speaking with a number of SOCAN reps, I have learned that it is not SOCAN's concern how the fee is paid, merely that it gets paid.
So, perhaps the Rivoli is pioneering a new method of "pay to play" in Toronto, asking the artists to pay the organization that pays the artists. Perhaps it was just this particular bartender looking to make a few extra bucks on the side.
Whatever the case, as a performer and composer, I feel that this was completely inappropriate. I urge any other musicians out there to refuse to absorb this fee on behalf of the venues you perform in.
I am still awaiting a return call from the downtown Toronto SOCAN representative for further info, but if anyone out there knows something more about this, please pitch in!
Musicians already have quite a struggle trying to be fairly compensated for their hard work. Let's put a stop to this madness before other venue's decide to try this out too!
Peace,
Dynamo
