Anybody heard anything about how and when these will go on sale?
Just noticed that the shows in the states that are to occur after the May 17th Toronto show are already on sale, but no Canadian tix on ticketmaster yet. hmmm?

Ok a group of musicians who pull on the likes of rock, funk, break beats, and jazz with loosely coupled song structures strung together by improvisation. Ohhh and sometimes they even just play music that's not rehearsed and it's completely improvised sans pre-determined structure.
I don't know what to call it.
Any ideas out there?

"what the thunder said" is a Jam band out of Guelph and is playing @
Auk's Lodge Pub
On The Sir Sanford Fleming Lindsay campus Tomorrow Wednesday, March 23rd
Last time we were out there there was about 200 dancing fools having a blast to the funk.
Bulk of proceeds goes to the Environmental Technician program at the school so it's a good cause and there'll be a great group of kids out.
Small cover big fun to be had.

Mark O is a Genious.
Join me in pointing and laughing at the shrimpy man.
I'll get me brother and stand on his shoulders and then slap ye like a cheap bass through a huge amp.

Guelph:
Strangely large church
Of which I am kind of afraid, because I can see it directly from my pre-marital sex bed. Despite this it's definitely a point of interest and fun to look at while under the influence.
Large number of musicians in a small area.
You can go in a bar on some nights and spot over 7 bass players
2 seasons
Students...and Summer (both cool and welcome breaks from one another)
Able to walk to everything you'd need.

Mark O is a Genious.
Or does he suck?
Nice DMB "Wang" reference.
Smiling and not smiling at your witty retort.
I think it might be time to ignore this thread and talk aboot some positive musical trendation.
Mark you are a breath of air...the air comes from Hamilton and depending on prevailng winds I'm not sure how fresh you are but you're definitely efficient at blowing wind.
So (Attempt to make this thread useless) who likes Cat's Cradle? I used to play that action with my sister all the time, but that move with the pinkies was too much so I quit and joined an Es Chico Chico Guild.

Are people this bored?
Jesus throw a frisbee.
It's pretty amazing the shiznit people blindly decide to pump in their bodies.
Find some papers and a beer or something that grew out of the ground man!
I am inexperienced when it comes to white drugs of the world, but have read enough about the entire generations of genious musicians who's creativity depleted, personal lives deteriorated or just up and died to at least look in to the sh!t.
Some of these dumbass kids are really going to waste away some important years of their lives for no other reason than they didn't read up!
Blah blah......This topic has been informative on many fronts and I am enjoying the debates.

Interested in collaborating with you on stuff. I am in a funk/jam band out of Guelph Ontario.
We have started up a decent fan base in Hamilton and Guelph and would love to help out with some openings or show swapping blahdy blah blah. Also have some friends out your way and we are looking at late april as a time to head out there.
I have sent you a private message already, but thought I'd respond here too.
Dig the sounds I heard on your site.

where are you seeing the trey bashing?
i think he's pretty respected around these parts...no?
Ohhh I just see it here and there as I traverse the board on Company time. I didn't mean to imply that it was epidemic or that there was a general aire of mean-spiritedness around here.
I've also heard it around jam band clubs too.
Just struck me as immature or strange or sumthin.
Thought I'd ask those in the know.

Can somebody explain to me where the distain for this man comes from?
I have very little allegiance to anything except the general making of music and not being a pop-music-no-mind?
That being said ... I do have an intimate relationship with the making of music and a strong sense of respect for the music made by others, but do not find myself surrounded by volumes of live recordings or biographies of my favourite musicians and thus I remain slightly under-educated about the inner working of the players and their fan base.
Quite simply I listen, try to discover the root of why the music works and then try to apply these macro-concepts not wanting to delve too deep for fear of being an imitator when my pen takes to paper or my hands to playing.
My personal listening habits aside.....
I ask the people of this board who are much more informed than myself on Trey Anastasio to explain where the distain comes from or speculate where the distain of the others may be coming from.
I hear a great player and a person that makes a real effort to be true to his art nothing more nothing less.
Learn me up!

Any chance WTTS could make it up to Ottawa? (Two possible venues would be Cafe Dekcuf and Mavericks.)
Aloha,
Brad
Definitely going to be making an Ottawa Appearance. We had a couple kids from O-Town come see the show on Saturday and we are looking to repay them for the support.
What's the skinny on the 2 venues you listed;
capacity, vibe, average cover?
Who knows the jam clubs in Montreal?
Looking for an Ottawa/Montreal 2 night festivus.

Thanks for the kind words and constructive criticism.
The show on Saturday was a blast. Sweet dancing throughout the 2nd set and beautiful sing-along during the encore.
So greatful to the people that made it out and hope to see some new faces next time.
-
Tape away man.
No worries on the criticism. That's part of the game and will only help.
The band is definitely in its infancy on that recording and we're developing everyday.
Only been together about a year and we just picked up a full time keys man so I won't be spread so thin. I played the keys and bass on the album, but am seriously more comfortable on a bass. Saturday in Guelph will be the first time I'm not running between keys and bass and with the 4 piece instead of 3 piece setup things are moving on up like Weezy J.
Thanks again,

Leopard vests + No-Shirts it is fellas.
Shaving your name into my chest hair as we speak. Anybody else want their name there...I don't have a lot.
-
I'll be there. You guys better be good.
True...
I'd hate to completely suck-out in front of my girlfriend and her jam band friends.
Might be in the market for some band cyanide if that happens -kidding- just trying to build a tortured musician facade before anybody finds out I'm having way too much fun with all of this.
See you Saturday.
Missed you at The Fat Cat's last night.

Hi All,
Musicians in Guelph making music at the Jimmy Jazz in Guelph this Saturday March 19th starting at 10:30pm.
Virtually unknown at this point we are definitely jammers and could use any support from the likes of the music appreciators in the forum.
Take care.
End shameless self promotion transmission now.

Didn't Gaton Boucher run ads for the dairy farmers about butter? I thought they were all over this.

You used to be able to buy a laser tag type gun and shoot the characters on TV. You cold score points and play with your friends.
Huge fun when you're 8. It's hard to find any pics of these people with the bright pink target area on their stomachs that were used as the interactive target area.
There are a few though.
