  1. my available credit changes instantly on the online page (bmo mastercard) but the other numbers only get updated once in a while. It's also the only way I can see the available credit (which includes the holds and stuff that the balance sometimes doesn't have), calling doesn't list it for some reason.

  2. If you downloaded the free mp3's and had a problem listening to them in an mp3 player, here's the fixed sample in a jar.

The downloaded one has its track number set to 1 but it's actually supposed to be 4. If your mp3 player goes by track numbers (and I think iPods do), it might be out of whack. You can also just fix this in iTunes instead of downloading it here.

Lol, total download size of the mp3's from livephish.com: 420MB

Ok, so more problems with the MP3's. I load them on Steph's phone and the album names are out of whack. If this is the case for you as well, load them all in itunes and go to the album(s). Highlight them all and right click them choose convert tags. Choose version 2.4. Also do the same thing again and pick the second option, to fix the unicode. Now they'll play right.

  3. If you netfile it's 1 week. As in I submitted mine last friday and it was assessed monday and on my government account it says that the money has been deposited March 9th. It was the same last year. What I don't get is why, if they've already assessed it, do they need to wait exactly 1 week before depositing the money into my account. And why do they put up messages implying past tense with dates that are in the future? The government confuses me.

I might look at studio tax next year. Is it free for everyone and does it have options like handling two returns at once (me and spouse type deal)? That's all I really care about, that I can use the program to do my taxes without actually knowing anything other than how to use the program (I don't want to learn the tax laws that have to do with spousal income and transferring credits between us and whatnot).

  4. same here, if anyone needs them I can always get them and my ratio kicks arse. If I give someone one and they get me banned somehow then I'll be mad but not likely to do anything about it so all good there too (rather it didn't happen, though).

  5. seconded on quicktax. I buy it every year and do my taxes as well as a few others. You can play with numbers as you go if you have final pay-stubs but no t4's and it has a pretty good help section. It also has analysis tools so for example, Steph and I have a dependent, well, it will figure out who will benefit most by claiming the dependent and put it on that return. I also like that I can just plop in my previous year's file and it will automatically have my personal info setup as well as dependents and whatnot that shouldn't change...

  6. Ubuntu is Debian flavored linux. Myself, I prefer novell's SUSE flavors but at work I use Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, SUSE, Fedora, pretty much all the linux distro flavors. We even have our own custom linux distro that powers our embedded box.

Great thing? They're all linux so if you use one, you can use the other. The window system you use is either going to be Gnome or KDE (Ubuntu would use gnome, Kubuntu is the KDE optimized version, I prefer KDE but it's not as stable). There are others but you most likely won't ever see them.

If you play around a bit you'll find that if you can forgive the not quite as nice looking gui, there's no reason at all to use MS windows. Hardware compatibility for Linux blows MS out of the water (yeah, it might be a little harder to get the hardware running but there isn't much hardware out there that won't run on linux, PAE (physical address extension: use more than 4gigs ram on a 32 bit system) actually works, it's much safer and all the programming tools you can imagine can be installed free. Throw in scripting and MS doesn't even compete (how many times have you done a repetitive task like rename a whole poopload of files, write a script in five minutes and let it work it's magic).

If you have any questions, pop em off, I'll be glad to give you a hand...

  7. In Westboro, Retrotown is now gone :( and I think that whole area is being forced into condos (increase the rent way too much to force the stores to close type deal, that's the story with retro at least, though the guy said it's time to move on for him anyway).

I don't know the deal but I told Steph to pm you or tell you as she knows more than me...

  8. I loved it as well. I own the dvd and have watched it many, many times now (it's currently running on TMN in HD so at the moment I'm getting about 1 or 2 screenings per week).

Transformers were my favorite toys growing up, bar none. Gi-Joe was cool but I was destined to be a technology geek/freak and so the appeal came naturally I think. Every time we're in a store with toys I beg Steph to let me get one of the really big ones that my parents couldn't afford when I was young (or even a little one, little Trey must be old enough to play with them now at 15 months :) ).

Whoever thinks that robots turning into cars is a bad idea (bouche, was it you?, can't remember and way too lazy to check), well, your a bad idea, take that :)

I think it's neat. The transformers only turn into cars because that's the mobile mechanical devices they found on earth when they came and so could use that to camouflage themselves... They can actually transform into anything they analyze (like the odd jungle transformers cartoons from a couple years ago where optimus is a big gorilla).

The movie met and far exceeded my expectations and I'm immensly glad they waited until at least now to do it (when we have the technology to draw the robots such that even in HD you really think they're there). Had this been created even in 2001 it would have been terrible in comparison (I'll most likely say that again when they come out with the remake in 10 years except that perhaps then they'll be running all over my living room instead of on a flat colorful screen).

Oh, just a note, though. The story, in my opinion, and plot and all that could have been better maybe. I only watch it because I waited all my life to see real live transformers running around so the story and plot and other actors and whatnot didn't matter to me in the least until about the 5th viewing or so...

Transformers 2... CONSTRUCTICONS!!!!!! Oh yeah, baby :)

  9. did you really ask if stockholders would be willing to let a CEO drive the company into the ground rather than take a pay cut? huh?

Did you really need to ask that question? Did I need to emphasize it with purple font or add a Wayne's World "NOT!!!" to the end to accentuate the sarcasm there? I figured it was a no brainer, actually.

  10. I don't know what a smart business person would do but from human observation and based on my limited knowledge of powerful people, I'd say that human nature makes us greedy and that the CEO will take the company into the ground before cutting their salary to $500 000. Now, the question is, will the stockholders and/or stakeholders (not sure what the difference is but I remember those two terms from school) be willing to have a CEO that will drive the company into the ground before taking a pay cut or would they demand that the CEO take the cut or leave?

Also, what about the rest of the upper echelon of the company? It's not just the CEO that makes huge amounts of money. Would everyone need to take the cuts?

  11. the google link works but I get the stupid rogers search screen (their new answer to 404 page error is that they shove their search results, and ads, down your throat) for the actual test link.

Found the tool but their servers are overloaded at the moment so no go. I don't use torrents so I don't know if rogers throttles them (probably).
