Phish to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 2008 Jammys
Phish will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award when the Jammy Awards return to New York's Theater at Madison Square Garden on May 7, 2008. This year's ceremony and all-star concert will mark the seventh installment of the The Jammys and, as in years past, will celebrate the best in live improvisational music. The Jammys will also offer a number of unique pairings among musicians from the jam, pop, rock, reggae, gospel, indie, soul and jazz realms.
Produced by Relix Magazine, Jambands.com, and Peter Shapiro, The Jammys has grown considerably over the years, moving from Irving Plaza in 2000 to the Roseland Ballroom in 2001 and 2002. Since 2004 the Jammys has called Theater at Madison Square Garden its home. The ceremony has also welcomed a striking number of performers over the years, including Phil Lesh, Bob Weir & RatDog, the Allman Brothers Band, Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Steve Winwood, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, Les Claypool. John Mayer, Buddy Guy, Ryan Adams, Gov't Mule, the Tom Tom Club, Perry Farrell, The B-52s, Michael Franti, Sinead O'Connor, Burning Spear, Béla Fleck & the Flecktones, McCoy Tyner, Savion Glover, Travis Tritt, moe., the String Cheese Incident, Bruce Hornsby, the Disco Biscuits, Peter Frampton, Blues Traveler, Yonder Mountain String Band, Mavis Staples, Umphrey's McGee, Zappa Plays Zappa, Chick Corea and Dave Matthews Band's Stefan Lessard, among others.
As in years past, awards will be given out in a number of different categories, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, DVD of the Year, Download of the Year, Best New Artist, Tour of the Year, Live Show of the Year and Archival release of the Year. Phish has taken home a trophy at each of the ceremony's first six installments.
"We are extremely proud to present our Lifetime Achievement Award to Phish," says Jammys Executive Producer and Co-Creator Peter Shapiro. "Few bands have meant as much to the improvisational music community as they have, so celebrating their career is something that is a natural thing for us to do."
Previous Jammys Lifetime Achievement Award winners include B.B. King, The Meters, The Grateful Dead, Buddy Guy, Steve Winwood and Frank Zappa.
A full lineup will be confirmed in the coming weeks. Tickets go on-sale at Noon EST on March 20 via Ticketmaster and at the Madison Square Garden Box Office. For more information go to www.jammys.com

How I wish I owned a skid steer right now. Instead I am washing windows inside watching white gold accumulate like nothing the Ottawa area has seen since 1970-71. According to todays Ottawa Sun, Mother Nature is on track to surpassing the season snow accumulation record set back in 1970-71.
"While the city's snowfall record is 368 cm, set in the winter of 1970-71, the capital had received about 327 cm of snow as of Sunday. Another 20-25 cm is expected today."

AWeeJig, are you not Ottawa based now? Check out the show in Gatineau, just across the border in Quebec. I have tickets for that one.
No can do for the 20th of May in Gatineau. Prior committments of a longstanding tradition. Montreal on the 3oth is doable however.

Thanx Kev.

How bouts you hit up the 15th in Ottawa. I'll put you up for the weekend and you can help to convince my girlfriend that having a cat named 'Cully' is quite possibly the best thing since like....I dunno...sliced pharmaceutical cheese?

I was on the phone this morning with a guy from OC Transpo. He was a great help to me. I have yet to have a problem with the transit around here. On the way home from Nero on the Friday my gf and I even had the privelege of watching a girl open her purse, remove the items and proceed to vomit. I took pictures. She wouldn't let me get a pic of the inside of the purse though. It was a great bus ride home.

-and will be playing three nights in Tel Aviv.
and not only that they just rock, period.

To keep the critters away from your garden human hair will work but not nearly as well as Blood Meal. Blood Meal is available at any garden centre or even grocer. All you need to do is grab a small handful and lightly dust it around your plantings. For a vegetable garden I'm guessing you would be safe by just a pinch around every planting. It is Blood Meal not Bone Meal. Bone Meal is a root stimulant. Which would help also with the growth process but do absolutely nothing to keep the local jackalope at bay. Good luck.

Happy Bday Marge!

Nah, that would likely hinder my ability to go about my constitution in peace.

Next time I dispurse of bodily waste would you be able to critique that also?
