  1. Or how about in 2006, the endless talk of bring the troops home, ending in winning the congress, and then suddenly, over night "we need a surge and we need MORE spending in Iraq" she is just war mongering filth, Bush's female clone.

    Why We Have Debt

Okay, but you aren't addressing the elephant here. Our government borrows money from private banks. In much the same way the world bank enslaves third world nations in never ending prisons of debt. The statistics I keep running into are that over 90% of our tax dollars and other revenue collected by the government goes to pay off this debt. Is this not insane to you?

    Why We Have Debt

My solution is simple, only the Bank of Canada can issue new currency, if a private bank is allowed to invent imaginary money, then we all should be allowed to do the same thing, and as we all can see, this makes no sense. The banking industry began as a way to be able to travel and have access to your wealth, without having to carry around your gold with you. It made sense, Banks store your gold, and issue checks in order to signify that you are owed a certain amount of gold. In the meantime, you allow banks to invest your gold in projects that will grow the banks assets. Over time, they learned they could issue more checks than they held in gold, as people moved away from trading in their gold, as it was more convenient to trade in paper. Now this all makes perfect sense, but the problem is that now that there are private institutions able to issue imaginary money at any rate they wish, our whole economy and all the assets of Canada can be bought, sold, and controlled at a whim. Banks should absolutely not be able to issue currency which they do not already hold. It is that simple.

    Why We Have Debt

Thanks for posting that article Tom. As the graph noted, the "twin peaks" of Canadian inflation both happened after the BOC stopped issuing the majority of Canadian Currency. The first spike even happened the same year!!! The main reason we see the rate of inflation fall in recent years is due to the skyrocketing inflation the US dollar is seeing, due to some pretty insane tactics on the part of the Federal Reserve. But inflation is only part of this discussion, the big issue here is the robbery of our tax dollars (and their ever increasing rates year after year) to pay off debt to private banks.

    Why We Have Debt

Good question. I'm not saying to get rid of the private banking system, I'm just saying they should no longer be allowed to issue credit that they can't back up with real assets. It is fractional reserve banking that needs to end. The Bank of Canada (in my opinion, as well as in Canadian law) should issue all new currency and determine the rate at which new Canadian currency is issued. This is clearly a phenominally complicated process which involves a huge number of variables and consequences I wouldn't even suppose that I could manage properly with my current understanding of the economy, but what is abundantly clear is that our government should NOT be borrowing imaginary money from private banks. There is absolutely NO logical reason a nation with an abundance of every resource we could possibly want should be in debt.

    Why We Have Debt

No I agree with you Tom, people do need to assess all sources of information critically, and ensure they approach any issue from as many sources as possible. I will check out that link when I have a little bit more time, but I still think I haven't explained what I am trying to say properly, or you just aren't getting it. I am no against interest rates, of course they are mandatory, I am against FRACTIONAL RESERVE banking, where private banks can lend ten times the amount of assets they actually own at any given time, and get real assets back with interest on imaginary money. And even further, it is COMPLETE LUNACY that our government borrows imaginary money from private banks and forces the Canadian tax payers to pay off the compound interest. I want you to really contemplate what that means before you respond.

    Why We Have Debt

Tom, how old are you? Do you mean to tell me there has been "low" inflation in Canada? Do you remember what prices were in the 80's compared to now? In my life time, and I am young, 26, I have seen the price of major commodities at least double. This may seem "normal" to a society which has experienced this for three generations, but that means that your savings have been devalued by half, and will likely be devalued far more by the time you think you will be able to "retire", a luxury it appears the majority of my generation will not be able to afford. I have done a fair amount of research into these issues from a variety of angles, and by telling me the bank of Canada's policy of relinquishing control of the issuance of currency was a sane practice that lead "low inflation" is insane. The US before it adopted the privately owned federal reserve had decades of NO inflation. THAT is a stable economy. Where the dollar you earned has the same value when you choose to spend it. I am sorry you can't see the common sense here, but if you have a differing opinion that makes any sense, I would love to discuss this with you further. Please explain in detail, because I cannot understand where you are coming from.

    Why We Have Debt

To a certain extent you are correct BradM, but what you are missing is the fact that the creation of new currency, outside of accomaditing the extraction of new resources, and a growing population, devalues the rest of currency in circulation, thus you see what is happening today, how savings made by retirees which would have been sufficient in the days the savings were made, have now been devalued to the point that they must work well past the age they had intended. Aside from this, why should a banking institute be able to reap the profits of YOUR labour with interest, all for issuing currency at virtually no cost to themselves? It is a complete racket. A stable economy is created by having a dollar pegged to the population and resources (ie gold), the system we have now, insures that every dollar you make will be worth less by the time you get to spend it.
  9. Tell her not to pay it. 92% of that money goes directly into the hands of private bankers for illegally issuing our currency. A decent chunk of the other 8% goes to the mass murder and irradiation of Afghanistan. Our criminal government has robbed us far too much already.

    Why We Have Debt

Actually, to further my response, if it is okay for private banks to create currency out of thin air backed by nothing, then I as well should be able to issue my own currency. The problems inherent in that should be obvious.

    Why We Have Debt

Well I am not an anarchist. I believe governments COULD be useful for some functions, the issuing and managing of currency (not where it goes, simply the rate at which it is printed) is essential. Infrastructure such as roads, sewage, various other tasks I believe are best handled by a government. Although I also believe in a FREE country, you have the option to buy land, detatch from the grid, and lead a self sustaining lifestyle without being forced to pay into infrastructure. My main issue and purpose of this thread though is the fact that over 90% of our tax dollars go to a debt we have no say in, and get absolutely nothing out of. This is a major problem, and illegal to boot.
  13. I can find no other explanation for using depleted uranium which will be irradiating the landscape for a millenium, already causing massive increases in miscarriages and deformed babies, massive cancer increases already detectable. There is absolutely no other explanation I can muster than the wish to completely remove human life from that whole region.
  14. I agree with you fully. How sad is that. "do I vote for genocide, or tax hikes? hmmmm" Vote for neither, look into the Canadian Action Party!
  15. that is so damn sad. I love the Band of Gypsies. Such a solid, and mind blowing band. Funky yet far out as well. Just a little taste of where Jimi would have/ could have gone, sucks Buddy is dead too now. Solid move posting those lyrics Fluffhead. That is a favorite song of mine.
  16. And the Liberals are as pro war as the Conservatives, they just play makebelieve every once in a while when they aren't voting in parliament.
  17. If Canadians cared about being against the war they would vote NDP, but I think most territories in Canada have been screwed by them one way or another at some point (just like every other party of course) and their personal issues are more important than the war. It's depressing and sad, because I think many Canadians justify this war every which way, the sickest thing to me are the leftists who pretend it is a peace or humanitarian mission. Doesn't matter if the there are reports of whole villages beings slaughtered, man woman and child, doesn't matter if Canadian troops are torturing, doesn't matter when Canadian troops are caught raping children. Really all you need to do is think about this, we put DEPLETED URANIUM in our ammunition. Just think about that. It invalidates ANY argument other than this, we are engaging in genocide. If that doesn't make you a proud tax paying Canadian I don't know what will!

hahahha ya spot on! I used to consider myself a socialist, except I hated our government, all parties, all stripes, and hated every government ever in the history of the planet. Hmmmmm.... it took me WAY to long to figure out "these people are at best incompetant morons, and at worst and FAR more likely, nefarious leeches on humanity. Why did I think they knew how to spend my hard earned money better than I do again? hahhaha a socialist who hates the government! Priceless! Youth is so quaint ain't it!?

Without debt to private banks, we could have ten times the amount of social spending AND stay on budget. Of course much more preferable to me would be LET ME KEEP MY OWN MONEY YOU WASTEFUL WARMONGERING PIRATES!

    FOWL music

Hello all! I have a new cd out, a fusion, free jazz, jam band, funky hard rock offering on which I play all instruments save guitar on a few tracks. Totally unique! Here's a review, FOWL - InaStorMental: This being our first listen to Noah's weird works, we weren't quite sure what we were getting ourselves into, especially when that high-horn synth/bass/drum thang kicked in at about 2:00 on "MoFo Heat - Part 1 - Warming Up"... lotza "buzz", some fair amount o' "fuzz" (guitar) & lots of strange electronic energies being captured to entertain your braincase. You will NOT find music like this in other review 'zines, as they're unwilling to exceed their own expectations (or limitations, however you see it)... of course, that's never true at this magazine... in fact, we WANT the odd, the improvised, & the totally tanked. By the time you get to the screwy spoken-word lines on track 3, "MoFo Heat - Part 3 - Take a Cold Shower", you'll either go take one (a shower, that is), lock yourself in the loony bin, or rush right out & volunteer for the Noah Campbell "Peace World Tour"... terrorists would find this incomprehensible, so we should pipe it into Guantanamo 666 hours a day... ha! ha! Seriously (are you KIDDING, Metcalf?), if you want to hear something totally different, this is your ticket to the show! "Serious" fans of jazz will be shocked, but that's better than NOT hearing this fantastic voyage into the ghost of Uncle Frank Zappa... I give this a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for fans of the insane. Why We Have Debt

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25yhygUkecE Here is a good movie that addresses that among other very important issues. Well worth watching. The fact that governments allow private banks to issue their currency creating systems of spiralling national debt? Do you have an alternate explanation? Researching American history is one of the clearest documents of how the banking families have subjugated nations despited generations of resistance. There are excellent quotes from many American presidents as to how they were bamboozled. Studying what the Rothschilds did during the Napoleanic wars, financing both sides and buying up all of England is a good place to start as well. This is history. For Canadian specific information, research why the Bank of Canada in the seventies stopped issuing all of Canada's money. I'm sorry to report there is no other explanation for this.

    Why We Have Debt

Of course procuring a loan from the bank (or anyone else for that matter) with interest is a required business practice, my issue is that banks are being allowed to issue credit they don't own. It is manufactured out of thin air, backed by nothing, and then they expect interest to be paid on imagination! The real issue here is that 98% of all new currency issued in our society is "created" by private banks, issued through the federal government, and then tax payers must pay every cent of imaginary money, back with interest. This is why 92% of taxes paid go straight back to private banks, and serve no function for the Canadian public. There is no explanation for our government partaking in this illegal action other than proof that they are owned by the banking cartels.

    Why We Have Debt

There, you have a pretty good grasp on the subject django. The video links to a whole series on the subject, and that one is merely a primer on the issue. The whole world operates on currency issuing banks that are privately held. Canada is one of the few nations in the world that actually has a public bank set up for this function, so it is rather depressing that in the past few decades, we have been robbed of this legal institution for managing our nations currency without incurring debt or inflation. It should be understood, that the capabilities of private banks to legally issue ten times the amount of credit they actually own in assets is what has caused the insane inflation we see globally. These banks can then legally create subsidiary branches who can issue ten times the amount of credit based on the holdings of their parent company and so on, equaling what is literally an infinite amount of legal money, which at any point can catch up to us making our dollar literally worthless. The amount of currency that is out there compared with the amount of actual resources and wealth when assessed makes the our dollar actually grossly overvalued at the moment, and a calling in of debts could completely bankrupt our whole society from the ground up. The first and most important step is to bring the issuing of our nation's currency back to the Bank of Canada, as is the law.

    Why We Have Debt

I'm afraid you don't understand how this works, or what I am talking about. Of course printing money not tied to a commodity such as gold, or the GDP is insane, and causes inflation which devalues our standard of living, since wages are suppressed, instead of inflating along with the valur of our dollar. What I am talking about is that we have a PUBLIC bank, which can issue currency at no cost, at a reasonably determined rate, instead of the majority of it being printed by private banks which demand repayment. Regardless of whether it is a private or public bank issuing currency, inflation results. The fact that private industry can create money out of thin air (please learn what fractional reserve banking is before responding to this post so you understand what is being discussed here) is absolute lunacy. At least if it were controlled by the Bank of Canada, which was created specifically for this purpose, we might have a fighting chance at keeping inflation down, as the BOC has no incentive to overprint money, seeing that there is no profit from creating money out of thin air. Please think about this, as you aren't fully understanding what is being said here, watch that video, then do some independant research on this subject. It is actually ILLEGAL for private banks to issue currency in Canada, the fact that 98% of our money comes from private interests is completely insane.
