  1. OK,

SB3 is now the classic SB2 is an older model, probably discontinued (though it would still work fine)

Squeezebox can do as many streams as your computer can handle. On an older server or the vortex box this means 4 streams (different tunes playing simultaneously in different rooms).

You could run it all from your computer, but the more convenient way would be to get one controller and 3 receivers. The receivers each have a different name and you can select and control the different zones all from one remote.

I've had no issues with dropouts or network traffic associated with the squeezebox.

The vortex box has several advantages:

    quiet & low power (25w)

    4 onboad audio outputs

preconfigured to rip your disks (insert disk, rips to flac and mp3, gets tag info, download cover art from net, all hands free).

If you are computer savy, cou can D/L the vortex box OS for free (its open source) and put it on an existing machine. For me it's the low power element that sells the vortex box. My server right now has a 200w power supply, so the vortex will cut my musical carbon footprint by 8 times. Also the auto rip is cool, as I've strugled with getting a similar setup to work on my own server.

    Hope this helps.

(If you get confused just listen to the music play)

  2. I have a boombox and a Squeezebox Classic. The boombox is in my bedroom (wake up to the tune of your choice) and the Squeezebox Classic is in the living room. They can stream separate tunes or sync up. The Classic is hooked up to my existing stereo. So you can send the music files wherever you want, wirelessly, you just need to provide the speakers and power (or use the boombox). The sound quality is stellar. You may want to consider the duet model. It is a hand held remote with a color screen that shows you album covers as you browse.

I checked out Sonos as well, but this was cheaper.

I've been very happy with my set up. Very liberating to have all your music at your fingertips anywhere in the house (or yard).

If I were to do it again I'd get a duet and a Vortex Box as the server.

    Enjoy

  3. It's actually a production facility, not a farm. They make no assertion that the beef is grown there.

What struck me was the sheer volume of burgers produced. I guess that scale is required to make any profit from a cheap product.

Still wouldn't catch me eating there though.

  4. In honor of to nights show, I'm listening to last nights show... Just started set two, really dig that new tune "Backwards Down The Number Line" its gonna be a big one, Trey sounds great in the middle and there's potential for a good cohesive jam building. Reminiscent of the way in which the Billy Breaths era tune were built.

Dude, I'm stoked for PhIsH 3.0; I think it's what my life's been missing as of late. Bring the new tunes ;-)
