I'm seriously debating going to Jomamma, but I have an early class the next day. I suppose I wouldn't be the only one dead tired the next morning. I seem to remember my TA muttering something about how he'll probably crawl into class on friday.... maybe I'll see some of you there. Not 100% sure yet.

I personally love the idea. I'll bring the thimbles, wouldn't want all those musicians hurting their poor little fingers by jabbing needles into them. Buttons, we need buttons for eyeballs, unless someone has those googly eye thingys you can buy at craft stores.

Get this, I was sitting in the doctor's waiting room this evening, and there wasn't much else to do besides read the Glamour magazine that was beside me. Normally I wouldn't do such a thing but it's better than starring at little kids with colds pick their noses.... and there's a nice little write up about Busey, apparently he got himself bounced out of some Redcross function (or something like that) for showing up pissed drunk, barely able to walk, stumbling up to some random woman that he didn't know, and as the magazine puts it "Shoving his tongue her throat". Security grabbed him but I guess they were going to just deal with him quietly, sit him down or something until another woman complained that he had grabbed at her earlier. He was promptly turned out on his ear. I think it's ironic that I should read that, then come on here and read this.

Ya know... I first read bradm's post at 4:30am this morning before bed. I didn't understand it then, and I just reread it, and I still don't understand it much now.... must be the fact that I don't like beer.

Um.. this may be my misunderstanding.... but doesn't dehydrated mean that the water present in something has been removed?? Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the whole concept or something, but when we dehydrate stuff in my chemistry labs, we take water OUT of it... so just what the heck is dehydrated water then??

For those of you who don't know, I'm a biology major and am currently taking two courses in which the topic of GM products is closely related, Plant Sciences and Ecology, and several people have already made points I was going to.... we don't know the long term effects on humans or any other higher organisms on the food chain, that modifying any plants could have. Our systems aren't used to dealing with this enhanced food, but at the same time, Ms. Hux ALSO had a good point in that some modifications eliminate the potential dangers that pesticides in plant products posse on anything that consumes that plants. We haven't been able to observe the long term effects of GM foods, but we haven't been able to observe the long term effects of a long list of pesticides and chemicals either. But, by making some 'super plants' that are resistant to insects and pesticides we could possibly be creating plants that we can't control. If there is no natural predation on the plant itself, the plant's population can boom and begin to kill off all the other species and plants in the same habitat. I agree with Phunky Cauldron that the average person needs to be made aware of just what it is that is in their food, but at the same time I know that that's a very difficult to attain goal. Not everyone cares to know, and a lot of people may not want to bother wrapping their heads around all the scientific information that may come out in the near future. I can tell you this though, just because a scientific study has released some sort of findings on the matter, don't take it as 100% truth. Look into who funds the projects, because it's very easy to perform indirect tests that may give nice sounding answers, but have little scientific merit.
