  1. I have been living in Hintonburg for a year and a half now. There is no shortage of crack heads, street walkers and drunks but I haven't really found it that unsafe. We haven't had any issues with vandalism or break ins at all. You can definitely find a better/safer neighbourhood but the 'burg' does have it's charm and it's generally cheap rent.

That said, I'm moving closer to Westboro at the end of the month. Anybody want to buy my house? It's real nice.

  2. Mike, drop me a line and let me know what you need, I'm sure I can give you a hand. I have everything plumbing related (tools and supplies) as I just finished replacing all of the plumbing in our place.

  3. hey skelter. I am in the same line of work here in Ottawa with Coldwell Banker. Send me a PM with your contact info and maybe I can pass on some referrals. It always nice to find someone worth working with in another city.

    cheers

  4. I find the mortgage arrangements the biggest hassle in buying a home. A CRA tax audit requires less paperwork. That said I just bought a new home and I'm a little worried as I still have my old home to sell. Anyone want a nice place in Ottawa? I'll give you a deal...

  5. This is kind of a shamless cautiously optimistic plug, but my sister-in-law owns Cuppedia at 97 Main St. near Lees. It's a new little coffee/teas/desserts place. They have couches, wireless internet and most of the time good music. They are just starting out so it's never too busy. It might be a good place to hang out.

  6. I believe that adding gelatin to the vodka and juice mixture before freezing will make the alcohol freeze. It may take a little experimenting to get the amounts right. I haven't tried myself but now may be a good time for a project.

  7. I think the rules are something like this, at least in Ontario:

Only if the pet is dangerous, causes allergic reactions or causes problems for other tenants or the landlord, must you get rid of your pet or consider moving elsewhere.

Even if you signed a lease with a "no pets" clause, if the pet is not a problem for anybody they can not enforce it; such clauses are invalid under the law.

You do not have to move or get rid of the pet unless the Tribunal issues a written order to do so.
