  1. Hey folks,

Bought a pair of tickets for Wilco's Solid Sound festival in Massachusetts near the VT border and am now unable to go due to work travel. Great lineup and great venue: http://solidsoundfestival.com/

Bands include Os Mutantes, Low, Marc Ribot & David Hidalgo, Medeski, Martin & Wood with Special Guests, Neko Case, Nels Cline, Reggie Watts, White Denim, 2 Wilco shows & Yo La Tengo

I got a pair at the Early Bird price which is now sold out. Paid 268 including fees and would like to get 250 for them.

    Anybody interested?

  2. Mel is moving into the beer and whisky portion of her sommelier certification, if the amount of wine we drank during the last eight months for "studying" purposes is any indication of what is in store for us then things should be pretty amazing at our place for a bit.

Sounds like a tasting session is in order! Am heading to the UK Friday for a couple of weeks and planning to make a visit here:

Hope to come back with some tasty new treats :)

  3. have been loving this recent purchase:

Normally prefer the heavier and more peated stuff (and not usually a Bowmore fan) but this one just has so much going on. Serious flavour country.

  4. Great show tonight! Decided at the last possible moment to head over without tickets. Rolled in very late and got free parking in the media space right near the doors, then scored a pair of tickets for 60 bucks (nosebleeds), then casually walked down into the 100s and got a pair of seats in the 1st row, amazingly close to the stage. Great fortune all around.

The band sounded great, jammed out some classics (great Mr. Soul and Cortez the Killer!), and seemed to be having a great time. So glad I went!

  5. interesting thing, got an email from mobilicity today offering me a $100 credit (paid in $10 installments over 10 months) if I switch to automated monthly payments between now adn the end of the month. Given that I've already got a 22.50 bill, this woulld mean 12.50 per month for the next 10 months if I'm reading it correctly, which is a damn sweet deal.

Anyhow, not shilling for these guys in teh least. Been a customer for about 10 days and have been satisfied with the service, but who knows how I'll feel in 3 months. That said, rates are very cheap at the moment!

Edit to add that I'm not sure if the two offers will work concurrently or not, so you may have to take one or the other (e.g. 50% off or 10$ off).

  6. Hey all,

Weighing up options for a phone here and wondering what people's experiences of these new low-cost carriers has been.

From my reading they're fine in urban centres but a bit crap outside of them, which is probably ok for me, but I'm not super worried about spending more if the added value is obvious, so wondering if I'd be missing out on something by skipping Fido or other more mainstream carriers.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

  7. thanks Dave! Sounds great. Forgot to add that I'll be arriving sometime between the 4th and 6th of November (my original post kind of reads like I already arrived!).

Once all my shit gets transferred from my storage unit in Montreal I'll do a bit of a stock take and get back to you on the office stuff. Will definitely be needing a phone so I'll get back to you on that too.

    Talk soon!
