  1. I liked the IPEh. It's tough to find around here.

I'm super happy to see a few Canadian Craft Brewers putting out IPA's lately.

Ontario seems to be slow on the IPA trend, but things are certainly improving. When I was in BC last winter, IPAs were plentiful made by several local craft breweries. I wish the Kingston Brew Pub would export some of their beers other than Dragon's Breath.

  2. One thing that is cool about Mill Street Pub is that it has its own beer store/swag shop located at the main entrance. You can buy most of their brands there by the bottle or in 6 & 12 packs. They also sell pretty nice looking shirts' date=' glasses, mugs, hats etc...[/quote']

You can also buy growlers on Friday's of their beers that they don't sell in bottles such as their IPA and cobblestone stout.

Good to know. Is the price discounted in Growler format?

There's no price to compare, so I don't know. I'm not sure a growler is a good deal other than you can get beer that you can't get at the LCBO or Beer Store. Mill Street also makes a nice pilsner. You can get a 6-pack for slightly less than at the Beer Store or LCBO: e.g., a bottle goes for $2.

  3. I was there for 24 hours last summer. The main beach drag is depressed and full of above-ground parking-lots and vacant stores. There was a big fire a few years ago that gutted one of its core beach blocks, but nothing was built to replace it. The beach itself is really nice and well maintained and Lake Huron is a fairly clean lake. The area is also surrounded by power-centres and big-box stores, which hasn't helped the development of the beach area to say the least. There's potential there, but right now Wasaga needs some TLC.

  4. Fergie Oliver.

Man when that guy started hosting Just Like Mom it really threw off his game for doing colour for Jays games.

Apparently, Fergie was a great guy to work with and did alot of the dirty-work for other announcers and had a great relationship with players. But yes, he was fucking annoying: "How about those Toronto Blue Jays"!

  6. The Mill Street Pub in Toronto has good location going for it and of course great beer, but it's overpriced (e.g., you'll be able to find cheaper Tankhouse in other pubs of a similar atmosphere and standard) and the food is heavy average. The service is spotty too, especially lately. My wife and a number of friends used to work there but all moved on because the owners were assholes. Also, I said it before but as an unspoken management policy, bartenders pour "priest-collar" draught, meaning two fingers of head no matter if you order a real pint or a half. However, I know the owners have to pay huge bucks per month for the lease, so the overpricing makes some sense and the place caters to mostly tourists.

  7. Yeah my friends and I have perfected the art of getting into the one hundreds 3rd of 1st baseline. They are transferable so when I can't go one of my friends always takes it. jaimoe have you ever been to opera bobs for an out of town game when the drunk jays fans guys set it up? Its always fun with a bar full of jays fans and they even have red racer beer (one of the best ipa's) in cans and a bunch of good beers on tap.

So you can get into the 100s from the 500s? I didn't that was possible. No, I don't know what Opera Bobs is, or means. I gotta get my hands on those IPAs ASAP!

  8. Can't wait! Got my seasons tickets again. Best sports deal in town. 99 dollars for 82 games.

holy sheepshit! that's unbelievable' date=' I would soooooo do that if I lived in TO :dazed:

jaimoe- I assume you get in on this every year?

    [/quote']

I'd miss more than half the games and when I would go, I'd spend too much money on $10 cups of domestic swill. I go to half a dozen or more games a year, sitting mostly in the 100 level baselines. My opening day seats are in the 200 level. Got them as a birthday present from Vicki. I hope Morneau is over his concussion.

  9. Young team' date=' iffy pitching.

    [/quote']

absolutely. a bullpen that is (aside from Romero) unproven.

More like a somewhat proven bullpen and a starting staff of youngsters with loads of potential. Morrow's health is a worry.

  10. It may be a rare year where only one team makes it to the playoffs, and it should be the Red Sox. The AL is a very competetive this season, top to bottom. Even Baltimore looks good, at least on paper.

I'll be at the home opener on Friday, but it just isn't the same talking Jays (and going to games) without Julia. I'm sure she'll have the best seat in the house.

  11. I'm glad to hear that Dave's out of the fray, Jaimoe; I haven't heard from him in a little while.

It's unbelievable what's going on there, and it's not just the tragedies that have already happened. "The threat of multiple nuclear reactor meltdowns" isn't one of those phrases one runs across every day.

Dave is a survivor. He was in Phuket in 2004 when the tsunami hit. We didn't hear from him for nearly a week: my family, including me, thought he was dead. He finally answered my email, not knowing the graveness of the situation; he was not in the immediate area and didn't have access to news outlets or any computers. Even if he were in Kyoto, he'd be ok because the city is located inland.
