RIP

haha. That's very nice of you. I think I need to fill a calendar for a few years before you can even consider it. I'd have to split my vote between you and kc.
-
I have not made it to maverick's for tickets yet. I haven't been able to get in touch either.
When you do get in touch ask them to put the show up on the Marquee.
Does the marquee allow for several shows? The name Garaj Mahal would spark interest in itself.

And on their website. Actually' date=' it'd be nice if they had their November calendar up.
Aloha,

I've always thought that was strange.

Wow; that's an interesting development. I thought that whole block was scheduled to be torn down?
Looks like we'll get 3-4 more years out of it. So i've been told.

How about putting a Brian Griffith band together in there some night?
Friday November 21!
Brian and Jesse are confirmed, just waiting for the other part of the crew

A long time acquaintance has taken over the property at 33 Hess Street South, in Hamilton’s Hess Village. A lot of people know the building as 33 Hess. The new owner also owns Che Burrito & Lounge across the street. The new venue is appropriately called TouChe. I manage bookings and promotions for the venue so if anyone wants to talk about gigs let me know. The calendar will fill out a bit more as we progress. Hope to see some of you at the shows.

as soon as there are hard tix printed by maverick's' date=' I will grab a bunch to drop off at any convenient locations. [/quote']
So has this been done yet?
Not sure at the moment. Chris at Mavericks sent me an email 12 days ago indicating he would have 100 tickets printed. I've tried contacting him twice since and I haven't received a response. For all I know Mike has distributed the tickets and all is well.
How much are tickets?$15

tonight!

THIS Saturday! Reverend Selecta J spinning music 'tween sets from what I hear.
He's also joining Riddim Riders for a few tunes.
-
I thought they were on sale this past Monday. Sorry for any inconvenience. I'll touch base with Jay to see what's up. He's handling the tickets for Toronto and I'm sure he would like to sell you one.
-
we're pretty excited to be back at the Casbah.
Hope to see some of you there.

-
yes, they are very good.
Tickets for Ottawa are on sale through Ticketweb.
Vertigo Records and Mavericks should have some as well.

i was just dancing with Maria. That was fun. Too bad no when from here showed up. Every one is freaking out right now. What an amazing show. She totally stepped it up from last time which i didn't think was possible.
-
tickets are starting to move really fast for this.
-
wow! She brought the funk & soul tonight. This sounds killer.
-
If any one from the board wants guest list for the show tonight email me before 8pm and you're in.
cheers

I think I remember you reporting on this in another thread after you saw the show.
The music is top shelf and for those that appreciate a good story between tunes Maria will entertain. She'll also kick your ass. She pretty much stopped the show at one point to kick some guys ass for using his camera flash. I thought she was going to jump off the stage and throttle the dude.
-
I met Haque as I was coming into the venue. As he was heading to the stage, he was complaining to the promoter that there had been no smoke around...
in Nelson!? What the hell? that's the equivalent to no traffic in Toronto..it just doesn't happen!
looking forward to the Toronto show
Don't they play out that way every year or so? I think the first time I heard of them was through Upstream bringing them in.

This show is next week!
Brand new album released on Telarc! YES WE CAN! / MARIA MULDAUR
Maria Muldaur's roots are in the folk revival of the early '60s, a time when figures like Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan were making bold statements about the civil rights movement, Vietnam, and other burning issues of the day. More than four decades later, in the face of political and social issues in which the stakes are equally high, Muldaur assembles a group of legendary female performers to lend their voices in a critical examination of where we are as a nation and where we're going. Songs include "Yes, We Can," "John Brown" and "Pray for the U.S.A." The guest list includes Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, Holly Near, Phoebe Snow, Odetta and Jane Fonda. (Amanda Sweet)
Since the Hamilton performance in 2006 Maria has also released Naughty, Bawdy & Blue completing the Classic Blues Women Trilogy on Stony Plain Records - includes special duet with Maria and Bonnie Raitt. Also released on Telarc, Heart Of Mine - Love Songs Of Bob Dylan, featuring special guest and long time friend/guitar player Amos Garrett.
Backing Maria on this tour are The Free Radicals, featuring John Sanders on keyboards, Craig Caffal on guitar, and David Tucker on drums.

Thanks for the info. Just got off the phone with Mavericks and I was told they have tickets and will be distributing them tomorrow at End Hits and Vertigo Records. I asked them to put the show on the marquee and was told it'll be up. There's also still a few tickets available on ticketweb.
