  1. Beyond The Pale Brewing Company now has its Pink Fuzz beer in cans! $12 for a four-pack.

And they're now available at the Westboro, Hintonburg, and Hunt Club LCBO locations.

    Aloha,

    Brad

They've also returned the brewing equipment they borrowed from Beau's two years ago.

  3. Years ago (I think), I got a copy of a Yonder Mountain String Band show in a trade. I found it this week, and realized that it hadn't been uploaded/circulated, so I decided to transfer it to the computer, split it into tracks, and upload it to the archive. It's from March 24, 2000 at the National Mining Hall Of Fame in Leadville, Colorado. The quality is great; I think it's a soundboard.

  4. Also from Facebook:

Our apologies for the lack of information in regards to our bar closing.

As a part of the HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel, our collective goal is to focus our guests' experience and, due to issues with noise levels, the bar does not accommodate that goal. As such, the bar is closed.

Should the bar re-open, it will only be available to our guests in the hostel.

This was an extremely difficult decision, but a necessary one.

It's been a wild ride for us, and we appreciate every person who had anything to do with our events, as well as every person who came to the bar - whether it was once or many times.

    Thanks for everything!

  5. Steve Judd...among best weekend music picks in Ottawa

Something about Steve Judd's music makes it perfect for summertime. It's full of catchy hooks and colour, written with the sort of heart-on-the-sleeve honesty that defined bands like Big Star or The Replacements. Don't expect just love songs from the Ottawa-based songwriter, either; his most recent album, Sugarcoated, buries sophisticated themes under those sunny melodies -- from political corruption to plans falling apart.

Based in New York City for almost a decade, Judd has worked as a freelance drummer for a number of independent and major label acts, but it wasn't until returning to Canada and settling down in Ottawa that he picked up the guitar. Now, Judd's rhythm guitar forms the backbone of his songs, giving them a Wilco-esque quality. Steve Judd and his band, The Underdogs, perform Thursday night at House of TARG with Toska opening the show.

    Aloha,

    Brad
