  1. My sister picked up this book for me in NYC this weekend -- I started it last night/today and it is.... AWESOME!!! Sooooo great to have a killer book like this to read on these cold wintery days.

Although my sis' story about trying to buy the book is quite funny/shocking -- when she asked to buy the "Slash" autobiography, the person helping her at the book store first said "What's it called?" -- she said "Slash" -- and then bookstore employee said "Who's it by?" -- my sis said, again, "Slash". This girl/idiot working at the store HAD NO IDEA WHO SLASH WAS. Jesus, save us all.

  2. I went on Friday @ Lee's and it was awesome. Ian Blurton got up for a Hawkwind cover w/ the Sadies. Andre Ehtier got up as well for a song or two. Fantastic show and it was a real treat to have Andre Ethier (one of my favourites) open the show, followed by Rick White, pre-Sadies.

  3. On [color:brown]Saturday, October 6th at [color:purple]The Mod Club in Toronto, there is a wicked double bill of music happening. The bands that are playing are:

    [color:red]Dr. Dog

~~ [color:red]Dr. Dog is an awesome psychedelic rock band from Philadelphia. They were recommended to me by a band called "The Teeth" (also from Philly http://www.myspace.com/teeth ) and I've been listening to both bands quite a bit. "Their sound has been compared to that of various 1960s pop bands, especially The Beatles and The Band, as well as The Beach Boys." They recently got off tour w/ Wilco and have also toured w/ such bands as: My Morning Jacket, The Strokes, The Raconteurs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, to name a few.

    and

~~ [color:green]Apollo Sunshine - you guys might remember from the tour they did w/ the SLIP. Or, maybe you've seen them at festivals (I saw them do a rockin' set @ Langerado in March). In the past, they've been named a Rolling Stone "Artist to Watch" and, random fact -- they recently made a brief appearance in U2's music video Window in the Skies.

I think both these bands are terrific, and they are no doubt going to put on a high-energy, fun show. A Saturday night of music not to be missed if you are in Toronto!

    ~~ It's an early show: doors @ 6pm & show starts at 7pm.

~~ I believe Dr. Dog is the headliner

~~ Tickets are $13.50 (according to TM).
