mr_pinchy
RL Burnside Come on In classic, his grandson Cedric plays drums on this. WISH I WAS IN HEAVEN SITTING DOWN [2000] Definitely more Delta Bluesy and raw compared to Come On In. Both very good though....nice find!
Tungsten Gruvsten
You need Ass Pocket Full of Whiskey, the one with Jon Spencer blues explosion(all 3 of em!) and Kenny Brown on it...fuggin rocks, and funny too. He's a hoot in concert, and there is an R.L. bootleg out there, i think it's a real release now tho....it's great, with his grandson on drums... Jaimoe
R.L. Burnside is one of the only " real " north Mississippi Delta blues guys still alive. He's almost single-handedly keeping this hard, Delta blues alive. If you want to listen to him live, check out 2001's release: Burnside On Burnside . It's as punishing as it is beautiful. A true testament to north Mississsippi Delta blues. Ironically, Burnside wasn't really discovered ( in the mainstream sense ) until 1992 - with the release of Robert Palmer's ( not the cheesy singer ) blues documentary - Deep Blues . Check it out. From this film, another great Delta-bluesman was re-discovered: the late Junior Kimbrough . Check him out. He's every bit as good or better than Burnside - and a major influence of The North Mississippi Allstars. Kimbrough's classic album is: All Night Long. Buy it!
