The release will coincide with their Jazz Winnipeg performance at Old Market Square with a following Canadian Jazz Festival and Club date tour in June/July. Early copies will be previewed at this year NXNE Conference in Toronto, ON where Moses Mayes will showcase June 12, 2004 at the 360. A Hamilton tour-date is set for SUNDAY JULY 11 @ Casbah. 'Needle to the Groove' follows the bands successful first S/T release which won the 2001 Prairie Music Award for Outstanding Urban/Dance Recording and sold over 2000 stage copies. The 12 songs featured on 'Needle to the Groove' represents the bands stylistic and musical maturity rooted in the performance of over 300 club and festival shows over four a year touring schedule. During that time, Moses Mayes has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with funk legends James Brown and Soul Manifesto and fellow Canadian urbanites the Pocket Dwellers, the Salads and the New Deal. The_eKuhnunist
I hear Rosetta Spunk is opening for them. Justin Dunlop is their bassist, and from what I can tell, he sounds like Hamilton's hottest 21 year old bassist.
