dave-O
Or it would have been. Thank you for the birth of americana roots rock. I'll be thinking of the Grievous Angel today. (can't believe I scooped TimmyB on this one!)
TimmyB
Yes what a genius Gram Parsons was! I was so happy that I made it to the Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Bros. tribute in Ottawa this year with his former bandmates Chris Hillman and Bernie Leadon. It was definitely a highlight this year. As the musician/Parsons expert Sid Griffin said during that day in Ottawa. Was the greatness of Gram Parsons worth his life? Griffin said no and it's hard not to agree with him. Yes Parsons was brilliant but life is too precious and it's so sad that he's gone. Others in the music industry also were on his path of combining country and rock and roll, like other former Byrd members Gene Clark and Chris Hillman, members of Buffalo Springfield specifically Richie Furay or even Bob Dylan. The famous saying goes Gram Parsons gave Keith Richards country and Richards gave Parsons heroin. I don't blame the great Richards for Parsons early death, but damn it sucks.
