Evil Dead News

Interesting news from my one of my favourite film series. The Harryhausen news after the headline below is just as intriguing ( from Ain't It Cool.com ):

Raimi to direct EVIL DEAD 4... as well as produce EVIL DEAD remake!

Hey folks, Harry here with the most exciting film news since all the hubbub started on Ray Harryhausen working on a new SINBAD film. While nothing could be that cool... a New Bruce Campbell as Ash being directed by Sam Raimi movie... well - that's unspeakably cool. And something we've all been dreaming of seeing become a reality. Meanwhile - Sam is also going to be Producing with his "THE GRUDGE" & "THE BOOGEYMAN" company... GHOST HOUSE PICTURES - a remake of EVIL DEAD 1 & 2 (as a single film) to be directed by a talent with a fresh vision for it. At least - that's what he told Bloody-Disgusting.Com in a recent interview (where you'll find more details!)

The rumor I keep hearing is that Raimi is courting Chan Wook Park to do that remake - though by no means is that a done deal. Park is scheduled to shoot and finish at least 2 other films in South Korea that he's announced. And GHOST HOUSE might be wanting that project on a more accelerated pace. Personally... I just want GHOST HOUSE to get shooting on 30 DAYS OF NIGHT. That's the property they own that most cries to be a movie, right now. At least, in my opinion...

Hey David,

Did you like Evil Dead or Evil Dead 2 better?

Well, The Evil Dead scared the hell out of me when I first saw it on Beta in 1983. However, I think the Evil Dead II is a better film overall, but perhaps not as ground-breaking. I'd say The Evil Dead is my favourite because of it's influence and significance. I never forgot Ash in The Evil Dead and have followed Bruce's career since 1983. I even got in a minor disagreement with Bruce over The Evil Dead's original video distribution date a few years ago. Needless to say I lost that arguement.

I myself like 'Evil Dead 2' over 'Evil Dead.' To me they are the same film, but with the second installment having improvements over the original.

I enjoy 'Army of Darkness' over both of them, one of my favorite films ever!

Also what do you think of the first two 'Spider-man' films?

I feel that Sam Raimi makes the films with a horror style, even if they were both PG-13 films. There are great horror elements in both.

Army Of Darkness is my third favourite. I think it runs out of steam near the half-way point, but it's still entertaining as hell. I like and own the Boomstick edition too.

I like the Spiderman films, but I won't buy them. Probably two films that feature Bruce Campbell that I'm not interested in owning. The two films have soul however.
