How Do I Make a Banner??

Any idea how one would go about making a banner with moving text/images like the many on this site??

look around for a program that allows you to make animated gifs... you basically build image frames and fit them into a time line

here's a quick example

alternately you could do it in Flash, but animated gifs are probably the way to go

I use photoshop to create each frame and then imageready to animate them and save it as a gif.

It can be time consuming at first, but at the very least, you can't forget to put all of the important details together.

The toughest part is keeping the filesize down by limiting the number of colours. Pick about 4 colours to work with and don't use full colour pictures in your animation or you could wind up with 3 hours work and a gif that is 500 KB.
