Popular Whistler band taking one-year hiatus

shill@whistlerquestion.com

If you’ve never attended a performance of Whistler’s self-styled “porno-funkâ€-meisters Slow Nerve Action, Thursday may be your last opportunity for at least a year.

“We’re going on a hiatus of at least a year,†said guitarist Josh Gontier. “It is mostly family stuff that is making some of us return to Ontario for a while.

Gontier said he and bandmate Benson would continue to write songs together until the boys return to life as one of Whistler’s favourite acts.

Tonight at Merlin’s, expect SNA to perform hits from the band’s two albums, The Soap of Beautiful Women and the recently released Lovenasium.

SNA take Merlin’s stage at 10:30 p.m.

Hmmm...I may have been under a mistaken idea, then. I remember them doing shows here (Ottawa, and S. Ont.) in fall 2002, but not much after that until recently (last few months), and I remember hearing that they had broken up, then got back together. (It's likely I got that wrong, and it's just that they didn't do much outside of the West.)

Aloha,

Brad

I think that is more correct. They tended to spend more time close to home. They had a somewhat regular gig at a bar in Pemberton called the Pemberton Hotel (The "Pem Ho" :D ), where they could be seen almost twice a week.

It was a pretty funny environment for them though. Very, "rural", shall we say....
