bradm
I can't link to it directly, but if you go tohttp://www.ropeadope.comand click on "Podcast" in the "Navigate" section at the top right, you'll see a list of podcasts from Ropeadope records (whose artists include Charlie Hunter, Antibalas, MMW, etc.). The one at the top (at the moment) is titled "Bob Belden Four Seasons". Click on the picture of the guy in the tuxedo, and a window pops up with a description and a set of MP3s for listening/downloading.In 1995 bob belden was approached by Deutsche Grammophon to arrange and produce a classical crossover CD for Flautist Patrick Gallois. Belden brought jazz to the mix and created a unique take on Vivaldi's "Four Seasons". The results were groundbreaking but the classical world was appalled and the album sat in locked vaults until it slipped out onto the internet. It's a joy to listen to; it swings, it's very jazzy, but still has the flavour and feel of the original compositions. It's also cool to hear something that a record company commissioned, but then changed their minds about.Aloha,Brad
