Slowness

Is anybody else having a hard time getting this site to load over the past few days? It's reeeally slow for me. Just wondering.

Funny - it stalled just now when I clicked on your post .

I don't get how speed works in an even general sense, aside from the matter of traffic. Down this south of the city, I can't imagine what sorts of factors might be at play.

sometimes it's really slow for me and sometimes it's nice and fast. I have a feeling it's because the server it's on has another site that gets really busy once in a while which can steal bandwidth from this site. I'm not sure though, you'd have to ask bouche I think.

I only say this because my connection to other sites is fine while this is slow.

That's pretty regular for a site though. It costs two and a half fortunes for a dedicated server which would mean things like paying to register and way more jambands.ca fundraisers (although those should just happen 'cause it involves great tunes, good folks and lots 'o fun).

I notice that sometimes the site will load a little bit of the page, then hang for like ten or fifteen seconds, then *BOOM* the whole page loads in a flash.

The web in general seems slower than it used to be. Probably a combination of bittorrent consuming bandwidth and too many pages with useless bells and whistles.
