Man Falls 60 Feet at Red Rocks Ben Harper Concert

DENVER -- There's no word yet on the condition of a man who fell while attending a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater Wednesday night.

Witnesses say the man was trying to lift himself up to sit on the steel railing as the Ben Harper show was ending. The man apparently lost his balance and fell about 60 feet into rocks and bushes. This occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on the ramp leading down to the Upper South Lot.

The man was airlifted to St. Anthony's Hospital and people who saw what happened say he was badly hurt, and that he was unconscious and appeared to have broken several bones.

His identity has not been released. Witnesses said he was in his 20s. One witness told 7NEWS that a female Red Rocks security officer cleared his airways and appeared to save him from suffocating in his own blood because je was bleeding from the nose and mouth.

Red Rocks officials said this is the third time in nearly three decades that someone has been flown to the hospital from a concert.

Anne Williams, with Denver Theaters and Arenas, said that there has never been an incident like this on the South Ramp and that management hopes concert goers "use common sense when using the venue."
