AD
i've always liked nikon...henry's on Bank and Cooper is a good bet to buy / get advice. there are a few camera stores on bank between parliament and the queensway... one is right on the corner of catherine and bank, but i don't think their selection is all that good. i'd stick with henry's, they've always been good in my experience. and their sales are very good too. bradm
Some googling led tohttp://www.dpreview.com/(among others) which might be good when comparing different makes/models. They also have discussion forums.Aloha,Brad
Mr. Photogeek
dpreview is a very good site...and make sure you shop around online first...then bring the best price into the store. Likely they will honour it. I also like Nikon (I personally use Nikon DSLR's), but I have friends using Sony's who are quite happy. My parents use the Nikon S6 and love it for its portability...its pretty good quality, but I don't like using the flash...seems a little harsh. I think you will run into that with most point and shoots though. Also I am sure you can make adjustments...just haven't given it the time. The thing fits in a pocket though...I've brought it to a couple of concerts to take some video!

Hux
Expediency trumped a lot of comparison shopping unfortunately, I went to Henry's and got a Sony DSC-W30 for $259.99.Hopefully I didn't get rammed. Thanks again for the tips gang.
