Anybody know where to find the tracklists's for Kev's Cuts. He just gave me 21, 22, 232 and I'm really loving them. Especially 22. Some of the songs are obvious but others I need to track down. I love this guys taste in music, probably because it's similar to mine. I'm wondering whether I got him into M. Ward or vice versa.

I got 'em!

I have a feeling that there is considerable skipping on those cds, which sucks, but I don't know how to fix it. Its not the cds, its the files themselves. The files have been violated electronically in many ways in the process of making their way to the final Cuts - since I don't know what the hell I'm doing really.

I made #23 in August but I haven't gotten around to posting it online yet.. Will do in the next month or two though. More to come too!

where did you find that song by the Prince Brothers that was one one of your mixes? I can't find anything by them anywhere, and I love that song.

They're two friends of mine who I know from when I used to work summers up in Lake Of Bays.. Awesome heartfelt musicians and good dudes all around. They used to be in a band called Boyce's Road.. BR were a solid rock band. Josh the keyboardist in FatCats used to collaborate with them a fair bit. Then Matthew Page (brother of BNL's Steven Page) joined the band and they veered in the direction of power-pop. They recorded with Bob Lanois in Hamilton but it was a direction I couldn't really follow as much (although they gained a steady following and BR's definitely worth checking out). BR split up and now Bryan and Eric just do their own thing.

I've got to say this the only way I know how. I have been going through a really hard time recently- the love of my life is moving on and dating a new guy and we've committed to not even talk. We've been broken up for ages but the spark was always there and she had become my best friend in the world. So I've lost my best confidente and someone I imagined bearing me a son named Levon.

I've been okay some moments and just a blubbering mess the next. I was doing okay yesterday and ... seriously I can hardly type this for the tears. I guess I'm saying that the reason I live my life in and through music is that it focuses all of your life experience, all of your love and loss into a singular experience. A crack lets a sliver of light in- that shaft of light illuminates places you may have forgotten.

Kev didn't make this mix to soothe anyone's heart as far as I know. Placed in this new context, in the context of this upheaval I'm going through- these songs all take on a new meaning. Animal Fat 'recall the dying embers', One Life Away 'just one step away' and of course I Hate Love (which pushed me over the top).

And I don't want to despise her.

I don't want to be there

when she fills me with disgust

just because she's so sweet,

I hate love.

I guess I'm saying thanks Kev, thanks Brad Barr, thanks M. Ward, thanks Andrew Whiteman, thanks community, thanks.

Hey Luke, its no coincidence as I was going through something similar when I put that mix together. At least half the songs speak to that, in one way or another, even if its just a few strong lines in the lyrics. Hang in there man; I'm so glad these tunes can help. All that you are is all that you give. I love to see someone connect with the songs that move me most.
