CyberHippie
I love how I can't get to the site. I'd say their launch is a success... Canadian downloading service launches Last Updated 2003-10-15 CBC News Online TORONTO - Puretracks.com, which bills itself as this country's first digital music download service, launched Tuesday. Most of the songs offered by Puretracks will cost 99 cents. The majority of the albums will go for $9.99. Puretracks will offer titles from all five of Canada's major record labels. It will also offer content from smaller record companies, like MapleMusic Recordings and True North Records. The company behind Puretracks, Moontaxi Media Inc., plans to have 300,000 songs available for download by the end of the year. The service will offer exclusive tunes from the likes of Kathleen Edwards, Remy Shand and Sam Roberts. It will also offer non-Canadian downloads. "It's exciting to be part of Puretracks, because they have an offering that's designed by Canadians for Canadians, featuring a wide selection of Canadian repertoire, in addition to all the international acts," said Denise Donlon, the president of Sony Music Canada. Moontaxi plans to launch a French-language site later in 2003. No subscription is required to use the Web site. http://www.cbc.ca/artsCanada/stories/download141003
bouche
Yeah...it's not working very well. THat's probably the reason there was ZERO hype for it. I like their attempt to use .NET technology though. Hopefully it'll work out. I'd love to see some jamband stuff up there. .99 cent tracks that are 25 minutes long! CyberHippie
Yeah, you'll definetly get your monies worth with jambands! I still think this is gonna be the wave of the feature. I think Rhapsody provides a pretty kick ass service, they just gotta start supporting Canada.
