Chewie
love vegas...where u staying (hotel?) if u need to stay n play on the cheap...head north up the strip...or downtown. slots o fun has 75cent buds and dollars heinekeins (sp) and coronas...plus free popcorn, coffeee and donuts..plus they have dollar craps, blackjack and caribbean stud and other tablegames... next door is the westward ho. they have a 99 cent margarita that is like 40 oz...but there is only one shot of the good stuff...they have a footlong hot dog for 1.49. last time i was there, i saw penn and teller at the rio...very funny and cool! plus the waitresses there are the HOTTEST you will ever see ! strip clubs that are all nude cant serve booze so u have to buy a bottomless pop for 5 bucks...plus they charge 25 bucks cover.and the dancers are agressive as hell to get you to open your wallet. the topless bars allow you to bring in your own booze for the ladies...check out the hard rock hotel...so many gorgeous chicks from l-a that won't give you the time of day you can drink while walking down the strip... you get free booze at the bigger casinos as long as you're playing...plunk 5 bucks in a nickel slot machine and you can booze it up all day and night cuz there is no last call. finally, check out the stratosphere tower...killer 360 view of the strip, city, desert, mountains... hope this helps...wish i was going cuz lv is the greatest city on earth... bONES
earthfreak and I were set to see 2 SCI shows @ The Alladin Theatre in Vegas back in July of 2001, but we were so burnt from the heat, the slots, the walks and the margaritas that we passed on both nights and saw Dark Star instead! Best choice i/we ever made oh yeah, you could go see if Seigfreid will get attacked by a tiger! This cast of the duo is on the strip...classic Vegas! have fun

The Constable
Just to expand on Chewie's advice a little bit ... for sure use the nickel slots as a sure fire way to catch a good beer buzz but be sure to order 2 at a time cuz they don't come by the cheap seats often. Remember that the 'friend' you're ordering for just went to the bathroom. Make a stop or 5 at the World Buffet at the Rio - the best in Vegas. Try to catch a comedy act if at all possible. I've seen a couple ... Improv @ Harrahs & Comedy Factory @ Tropicana (I think). Well worth the $$$. Enter the players clubs at each casino you go into. Really simple ... go to the customer service desk & fill out the form. They give you a bank card type thing that you use to ring up 'credits' for comps depending on the amount you play and how long you're at a table or slot machine. If you're not a high roller the nice thing is that they also give you a pile of discount offers for everything from food to show tickets just for signing up. Enjoy!!! shainhouse
I stayed at the Hard Rock for three nights this year and I missed Neil Young by one day, who was playing at the JOINT, a club in the lobby of the hotel. The strip just wasn't for me. Just way too much of EVERYTHING! Head away from the strip up Tropicana BLVD from the Hard Rock towards MARYLAND. There you will find everything you need for cheap food, drinks and such. Along with that, hit up UNLV and tour around, cool place!
headygouda
Thanks for all the tips guys! Tho i will be staying at the rio, many of my FOCs have a reservation at the crowne plaza, in fact, they got together for a group rate for 46 rooms..in an allsuite hotel no less! so i'll be partying in the tropicana blvd area definitely, and the show is at the cox pavillion, next to thomas and mack on the unlv campus. some one told me about freemont street too/. lotso lights apparently? can any one confirm..my eyes will be spinning and looking for whatever candy it can handle! The Constable
Ya, Freemont St./downtown area is kinda cool. It's where the old Vegas casinos are located. It's actually several city blocks that has been covered by a roof of some sort and they have a periodic light show each night. Lots of street vending and stuff like that too. Your time there seems to be limited but it might be worth a cab ride down at some point. The light show would be much cooler if you happen to be juiced while you're checking it out. colinw
We checked out the town when we saw Phish there in Feb. I enjoyed the Strip although it was a bit much. I thought it was interesting to see some of the bigger places - MGM Grand, Mirage, Madalay Bay. I would head for Manadalay Bay for the best looking waitresses if that's what you like. Some of them were smokin. They also had a cool shark tank attraction. Also check out the Bellagrio. It is swank, and has a cool fountain in front. I am sure you'll have fun wherever you check out. ENjoy the cheese.
