Hosted by Toronto reggae collective House of David Gang jonied by plus vocalists Micheal Garrick, Melodic Yoza and band leader King Selah. Selectors Dub Connection with Selecta KZar & DC Posse join DJ Chocolate MC Patrick Roots plus special guests and prizes. The Bob Marley Tribute presents the who’s who of Toronto’s Roots Rock Reggae scene performing a heartfelt tribute to one of the greatest musical and political figures of our time. This event is sponsored by CIUT 89.5 fm - Univeristy of Toronto Community Campus Radio, with prizes packs donated by Roach-o-Rama. Focus on performing a wide variety of music from Bob Marley’s catalog; from his early singles on Studio One, Trojan and Tuff Gong to his biggest hits on Island Records including I Shot the Sheriff, Buffalo Soldier, Exodus and No Woman No Cry. As always the musicians and artists are encouraged to showcase their own original material that is influenced by Marley and that brings to light Toronto's burgeoning original reggae scene. In addition to experiencing the great music & great vibes, attendees can help contribute to a good cause. Attendees are encouraged by bring non-perishable food items for The Parkdale Food Bank. House of David Gang www.houseofdavidgang.com After nearly 350 hours of studio time at Toronto’s Playhouse Studios with producer Snappy Homefry and collaborations with over 20 musicians from Toronto’s reggae community, plus the funding support of the Ontario Arts Council Popular Music Program and FACTOR, Toronto roots rock reggae orchestra House of David Gang officially release Reggae Warrior on NuFunk.ca Records. Throughout their career House of David Gang has been known for their uplifting roots rock reggae sound reminiscent of Kingston, Jamaica's music scene in the late 70's & 80's highly influenced by the works of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs mixed with a modern roots Canadian feel. The band takes its name from The House of David, an after-hours spot on Queen Street West that was a hotspot for artists from the city's burgeoning Rastafarian and reggae community from the late 80s until the mid 90s. House of David captivated audiences this summer at Rastafest to over 4,000 fans alongside The Mighty Diamonds and Echo Minott; has garnered national attention on CBC Radio; and performed live to 2 million people on CityTV’s Breakfast Television performing their new songs, including the new single "Best I Can Be". The band recently made its first West Coast tour to British Columbia, with gigs in Vancouver, Whistler, Courtenay and Nanaimo, after a 5-date tour of Quebec and the Maritimes earlier this summer.
