I think it was Antibalas that I wasn't enjoying. I know I've enjoyed them before so I'll chalk it up to the 'tinny' sound of my laptop speakers. Shibusashirazu Orchestra is something I am very interested in hearing. Where can I get a good show?

purple foot
thats cool you get some leverage on what you play. that was my major complaint when i volenterred for the guelph station was no major label stuff. i'm just saying there are a lot of good canadian bands that you would never hear on radio that you should consider playing. i would like to hear some -burt neilson -recipe from small planet -blue quarter -slammin jack -grand theft bus -jimmy swift band
secondtube
quote:would like to hear some -burt neilson -recipe from small planet -blue quarter -slammin jack -grand theft bus -jimmy swift band played burt a few weeks ago. the rest, we still need to get to.... we will probably get to them, but i'm not jumping at it... actually i dont even own any bq or slamming jack. I've seen them live enough times though, i probably could find something. the gtb and jsb shows i have are pretty trancy, and we try to stay away from that... i may play some gtb of their album...they have some good tracks on there. i have an old recipe fasp opening for the fatties, but i'd have to take a good look for it. actually, i think i may have their original album they sold on their 2000 tour... I dont decide what to play, i only make suggestions. Ken, my partner has the final ok. hence the reason it takes me extra long to get certain requests on the air. ie, denson, bela, etc. i get turned down on most of my jazz requests...but get them on when we can. we mostly play music from bands that are coming around...in the last few weeks we have played music by, Antibalas, Addison Groove Project, Sharon Jones & Dap Kings, Om Trio, Bela Fleck, Stephen Franke (Canadian), King Sunshine (Canadian) those are off the top of my head. though they aren't all Canadian, its getting exposure to bands that are coming to Hamilton. SixFootGroove, if your reading this, i would really appreciate something from you guys to play on the radio, to promote your gig with jomomma. secondtube
Sorry about the minor malfunctions last night. My mic wasn't working, and we didn't realize 'till midway through. Sorry Willy, brought the Deodato covering Richard Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra down, but we didn't get it in.... next week. Hope everyone enjoyed the show. Will have the track list posted later on today. Steve
purple foot
don't forget your 30 percent canadian content. and don't forget what college radio is all about. giving small time bands an opportunity to be played on the radio. playing major label groups is fine but remember they don't need the support from public radio. secondtube
sorry. no 30%. we play what we want to hear. i'm not playing college music because we have to. if its not worth listening to, its not worth playing. major label bands got there because they are good. we play local music. we play 'major label music'. we dont define our playlists with any standards... if i had to, i wouldnt' do the show.
